Starting solids for a prem baby

For those who've had a prem baby, when did you start solids? Did you base it on actual age or corrected age?

We started DD1 at 4ish months (we were told by paed it might help with reflux). I asked DD2s paed if we should introduce them at 5 months (4 months corrected) and he is of the belief that the corrected age doesn't matter, if they'll accept them they're ready.

So, what did you do with your prem baby?

DD had severe reflux and we started her on solids at 4 months actual age. We never looked back! She can tolerate all foods and had gained so much weight really quickly. She is an ex 29 weeker.

We started dd1 who was 6 weeks early at 4 months on the recommendation of our pead to try and get her weight gains up. She was able to eat it but needed small spoons and help supporting her head for long periods of time. We found it easiest to feed her on our knees.

Our paed said to use actual age, but we went with corrected age since its really a developmental thing. So I'd agree with your paed in that I'd look for the normal signs of readiness. Dd1 was 6 mths corrected (7 1/2 mths actual)

Our pead said to give it a go when DD was 5 months actual age. She is now almost 8 months old actual and loves her food! She'll give anything a go and hasn't turned anything down.

We started at 4.5 months actual due to silent reflux. The paed didn't even mention taking adjusted age into consideration, but we had a big boy who caught up and exceeded other kids his actual age (physically).
I'd say just give it a go and see what happens.

My 34weeker didn't even show interest until almost 9 months. He's still a fussy eater.

5 1/2 months (4 corrected). Took her a long time to get established. But, it was a weight issue. We hoped solids would help.
