The feed was discrete etc but as a BF mumma you can just tell when another mumma is BFing, and to be well into a pregnancy... aweinspiring.:
I did hear you speak and your DHs colleagues. Lots of tears shed by me. I wrote in the memorial book and made a comment about BB as I know so many wanted to support you but were not able to be there in person. It was a lovely memorial, your DH was well loved by so many.

I'm collecting transport modes... we've done train, plane, tram and bus. Once Brissie ferries are all sorted, we'll take a ride to daddy's work and we'll have the full quota!
I don't really have anywhere "strange" yet... my most exposed was on a bench on Stanley St (four lane busy inner city road) She was a week old an we were on our way home from the markets.
I think the memorial book is still with work. They were all finding it too hard to write anything and wanted to keep it for a bit longer. But thank you :hug: DD is actually still feeding. 7 months tandem feeding and still going strong. Who'd have thunk it :D
i have done that - the Laa and I mastered the art of feeding while she was upright in a mei tai - I have walked through shops and paid for things while she was feeding away. No one had any idea!!:
Wow - I hope to be able to feed through a pregnancy and then tandem feed at some stage in my life, DP doesn't want to TTC number 2 so we will have to see how long DD BFs for or if there are further siblings that I might be able experience that with.:

Topic - Other places we have fed - we fed on the ferry back from the zoo, the train, a bus, a plane, have fed in a car (not whilst it was moving obviously - but on the side of the road whilst on a road trip). Um, walking around the shops - both in a sling and just in my arms... there are more I am sure.
At at VCAT (Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal) dispute hearing, in a vineyard, at an outdoor concert - that's all I can think of at the moment
I've had to pump at Court ... I'm a lawyers, and I had an all-dayer at Court, so I booked a witness interview room, plugged in my pump, and went for it ...
Breastfeeding - car parks, in the shower, most of my friends' places, in a spare office at work, walking around the house doing chores and hanging up washing, in the bath, sitting on the display furniture at Costco (quite comfy, actually!), at church, in cafes, at the soccer, etc ... wherever. I'm discrete and will often try to time things so that J-man is fed at home, but that's about comfort, not any sense of embarassment :D

I BF on a Christmas parade float. DS really needed to go to sleep and so I fed him, but didn't realise that the floats went around the block and back down the main street. I don't think anyone would have realised though.
Gosh I bet it was nice at wet n wild! One of the best places to be this time of year too! =)
I'be bfed everywhere and anywhere, whenever needed. But two that stick out was at a tattoo convention show type thingyu, and the other was at a motorbike conention show type thing. A lot of the big tattooed men smiled nicely when they saw me which was nice.
But we've done zoos, restaurants, all forms of public transport, parks, at the movies, at two funerals, one wake (where a lot of the younger people got up and left the table when I started to fed)...
Walking through Coles, kmart, big w, in car parks, in cars on side of road. Anywhere she needed it really

On a sofa in the middle of an Ikea 'display room' (a bit naughty, but i was too stressed to find my way back to the cafe bit :))
In a huge crowd watching the elephant babies playing at Melbourne zoo.
On a boat in the middle of a river while DH was wakeboarding! High speed feed!
I did use parent's rooms in busy airports with a DS who was very fidgety and distracted, but never ever in a toilet or other 'out of the way' place!

I forgot, I regularly feed at bunnings on the outdoor settings. There's one setting I found really comfortable & tried to convince DH that we needed it (if for nothing else, feeding was really relaxing on it!).
Ooo actually lenny I've done it on a display couch at target once before too :D

I often use the outdoor setting in Kmart / Big W etc to feed on :lol:

I fed ds2 in the nice glider chair that was for sale a toys r us. :-)
no where "extreme" but i never bothered where i was - if E needed a feed, she got it
one food court experience stands out - an older guy (in his 70's) asked to share our table. He knew my Aunt (with intellectual disability) and she had been warned by mum several times to essentially ignore me feeding. E pulled off to be burped and the lovely old fella said "ahhhh that's what we like to see, a happy contented booby baby" - and my aunt nearly fell off her chair at him commenting. it was lovely though - he just accepted that she was feeding and that it was natural.
i freaked a bunch of 15 year olds out - sitting inside watching AFL grandfinal cos DD was asleep, they joined me and got a bit rowdy - woke her up (and apologised profusely) and all averted their gaze VERY quickly when i said it was ok, she was due a feed and started to get her organised lol
All the usual places! Car, plane, train, bus.. at the beach, in the ocean, in the pool, in the bath/shower, on display furniture, doctor's waiting room, doctor's room, cafes, restaurants, shopping mall benches, funerals (Maternal Grandma, Paternal Grandpa), in line at the bank, walking around the shops, doing housework... but my favourite is still the classic snuggled up in bed together!
Most recently at Australia Zoo, sitting on the bench in front of the tigers! Oh and the other day at the doctor, the nurse needed a urine sample from DD and offered a glass of water to help things along but she wasn't interested so I said 'no worries' and out came the sure-fire boobs. The nurse said it was neat to see a breastfeeding toddler :D
It is hard to remember where I have fed, it is just an everyday thing now. I think a book full of breastfeeding women in different locations would make an awesome coffee table book!
Just took the kids over to the local velodrome to have a ride on their bikes. Few other cyclists on the track, middle aged males. Footy training going on in the middle of the track and a couple of blokes doing their personal training. Miss P was screaming for a feed so I popped her on the boob. Trouble is, DS5 still needs a bit of help starting off on his bike without the training wheels. So there I am, bub on boob, one hand pushing DS along, trying to keep an eye on DD7 so she didn't cause a big stack...
I tell myself the looks I received from all those blokes was not horror, it was admiration for my multi-tasking!!
As soon as the post started coming I thought what an awesome book this would make...if only I had the money to make it happen :(

The 'strangest' place I BF'd DD2 was at the checkout at Target - cradling her with one hand while swiping my card and entering my PIN, then gathering up my shopping bags - the poor teenage assistant didn't know what to do! I'd been trying on clothes and I think DD2 had smelled boobies when I was getting changed, she woke up and I thought, 'Ahh the heck with it!' and kept going about my business because I was in a hurry :)
Her last-ever BF ( :( ) was in an emergency stopping bay on the Gateway in Brisbane :) We were heading for the Gold Coast and been on the road all day (thanks, GPS, for giving us the 'quickest route' through the back of bloody nowhere - gravel roads and stray cows meant it took us sooo much longer as we couldn't get faster than 40k/h!), DD2 started wailing in the back seat and I realised we weren't going to make the motel for at least another 3/4 hour, and she was mix-feeding (weaning) at the time but her bottles were in an esky and she wouldn't take one cold... 'Just find an exit or breakdown stop and get off, she wants it and she wants it NOW!'
It was pretty terrifying with all the traffic flying past at 140+k/h, I was sooo scared some idiot would plough into us, but despite all the noise and heat and stress, DD2 fed great, fell asleep and we got back on the road :)
ah, Target - I bf in the change rooms once, sitting on the floor, with him cradled between my pulled-up knees, and by BBs :) worked fine!
re the book, do you reckon the ABA would help out? or another linked cause, like breast cancer or something?
it could be used as a fund raising book ... we could all "donate" our stories, someone could do some great pics, and the ABA could use it to sell for a profit to support the ABA ... ??
^ I was totally thinking it would work if linked to the ABA - maybe a fund to further BFing education for expectant and new mums, or a charity like Bonnie Babes or something dealing with NICU babies? I don't know what's out there :/
I love the coffee table book idea! It could show the varied places, mothers, babies... Some that people might expect to see around (eg the typical late-20s mum feeding her newborn at home) and others that are less common/expected (young mum feeding a toddler in a theme park, heavily tattooed mum on a bus, etc)

I fed today 1) while giving a MCN demo to a woman (and a short life-coach session for her impending changes to her life when her baby arrives ina couple of weeks), and 2) Inspired by Lenny, I sat Jack & myself down on the outdoor setting at Kmart! :D

And then someone organised who can collate, make sure that there's no duplicates (and peiople with duplicates get invited to provide another wild and wacky location)
And then we all buy each other a copy for Christmas, and sit back thrilled at how much money we're helping raise for a good cause :dance:

library, wedding, and on a big fountain (on the wall bit, not the wet bit :p)
BUT weirdest place not being able to breastfeed - in a maternity clinic!!! I was there for an appointment, and they don't have a breastfeeding area. The beds were all taken so I couldn't go use one of the chairs by the beds, the waiting area was cram packed and noisy with kids running around, and much too distracting for a little one, and the big comfy chairs which I've nabbed a couple of times in the foetal monitoring unit (when others aren't in there, of course!) also were unavailable, because they're moving the unit ...
So my options were to sit in the tea room, or go back to my car, or do my best in the mosh pit - uh, I mean waiting room ...
DD2 had a feed on the steam train at Timbertown in Wauchope on Wednesday. That tops it for me i think.
This morning I went to the Kathmandu (outdoor gear) sale and sat in one of their display chairs to feed. I wasn't shopping for a chair, but gee... it was so comfortable I wanted to buy one! It was actually really lovely, the staff had no problem with me feeding there and chatted away each time they passed and several people asked if I would recommend the chair.

I breastfed at my wedding a couple of months ago :)
My dress and bra wern't really catered for breastfeeding, so I had to completely undo it, take off my bra and latch him on! haha!
Got photos of it and all ;) I have such fond memories of breastfeeding, this one is by far my fav!
I fed Amelia at the airport yesterday ;) Oh, yeah, and I was WALKING AROUND doing it!
