Just some annecdotal evidence: I tried and was unable to BF DD1 which was so dissapointing as I wanted her to have BM. However she still grew really well and reached her milestones way ahead of normal. She was recently diagnosed as 'gifted' in maths and problem solving and is a highly intelligent, capable, happy, fit child. So even though she was FF I don't believe she has suffered in anyway.

So if FF is required it doesn't mean they can't be smart and healthy.
