Tonight for the first time ever my DD refused to BF before bed. Our usual routine is wake up from afternoon nap, EBM bottle (as I am not here during the weekdays) then play, dinner because we've just started BLS, straight into the bath, BF and bed. She usually goes down without any dramas at all wide awake and straight to sleep. Tonight was no exception other than her refusing to BF. She just arched her back and looked away. She's fine, she's asleep already but I am pretty sad
In addition, for the last 3 nights in a row, she has woken around 2 - 3am and I have BF her. She has been sleeping through for a long time - before 2 months old. And sleeping through as in 6:30pm - 5am. In some ways I am grateful that she is waking up because it's doing wonders for my supply but I am also wondering why she has suddenly started night waking. Should I be BF her when she wakes or am I using the feed as a sleep aid? I always knew she could and most likely would change her routine suddenly but now it is happening I don't really know what to do.
Sounds like feeding during the night suits you both so go with it.
Just because she was sleeping through before doesn't mean she always will - they chop and chnage all the time.
As for bedtime - I guess she just didn't need it. It must be hard since you're away during the day so often. Who knows, maybe it's a once off.
Thanks Marcellus.........I was surprised at how sad I felt when she didn't want to feed. At least it happened on a Sunday so I got to BF her for most of her feeds today. Hopefully she'll be back to normal tomorrow night.
She might be going through a 'wonder week'. Darcie has been a bit more fidgety at night (we co-sleep). I think the wonder week is week 27.
Also, DD just started her solids too and my boobs are megga full, I guess because she doesn't want as much boob coz she is taking in the solids and getting full from that. That maybe what happened with X when she refused the boob.
Just try and stay relaxed and just follow her and her changes.
