Dd has only just cut in the last few weeks her first two teeth and they are her top two. I am finding that feeding her at the moment hurts and when she comes off there are two very deep teeth indents in my nipple. Is there any way to stop this or is it something I just have to put up with?? I've never breastfed a baby with teeth before. Most people are telling me considering her age it's probably time to wean anyway but I don't think we're there just yet. Any advice would be great.
Have you tried different feeding positions? even slight position changes can help.
Make sure baby opens her mouth wide and get more of the breast in, so the teeth aren't resting on the nipple. I say 'big mouth' to my dd so she opens her mouth wide.
If it starts to hurt during a feed (cos the attachment has changed) take bub off and reattach.

Is she actually biting? When DD was cutting her first 2 teeth (bottom two), she would clamp down and pull her head back. I'd take her straight off, say no more. She'd have a little whinge. I would offer again after 10 minutes if she was still hungry but she was usually done and off playing by then. She only did it about 6 times before she realised biting meant no more boobie.
No she's not biting, she's never had the greatest of latch and I think it is just where she is resting her teeth. I'll try to see if I can switch her position a little. It is definetly worse on one side than it is on the other.
I found I had to get a different technique when ds got his front teeth. We worked it out eventually. Just trial and error. I don't think you can avoid the teeth indents tho, I mean, the nipple is passing thru the teeth and needs to rest there instead of on gum iykwim. It shouldn't hurt tho.
Also make sure to start really supporting her head especially if she is falling asleep to avoid gravitational pulling and dragging of the teeth on your breast. It shouldn't hurt to feed with teeth, just need to start paying close attention to attachment again.
