As others have said cows milk if 1 year old isn't being breast fed is perfectly fine. Toddler milk is just a gimmick. Understand that only reason we see ads for it is because they are not permitted to advertise formula for children under 1. When DS turned 1 it was cows milk I gave him though did mix with formula for about 2 weeks to make sure he didn't have any reaction to the cows milk. Gradually built up the % of cows milk and then used it 100%
Not in our house - DS got hold of DD#2s' sippy cup with a chocolate milkshake in it that she'd left half empty on the floor. Its the same way he's been introduced to all the good allergens, actually ... just as well he's not allergic to anything O_o

Incidentally, babies really, REALLY like chocolate milk. Some people have dogs (or a compost heap) to clean up all the food a toddler leaves lying around, we have a baby ... I'm sure this would horrify all the germophobe neat freaks out there, but he seems to really really like her leftovers ...

ETA: both the girls have a chocolate milk after dinner. Big one drinks it at the dinner table, little one tracks it around the house and gets sidetracked playing and leaves her cup in all sorts of weird places that are easily reached by babies ...
