DD has, for the last couple of days, been expressing distress when she needs to do a poo. She will pass some poo (BM fed baby poo!) a couple of times a day, but mostly, I can tell she needs to do more and only passes smelly wind. The poo tends to be greenish, as well. I think she's 'stuck' and collecting wind, while she's at it. I've had a bit of a cold that I'm now on the other side of, and DS has a bit of a throaty cough, too. DD has had a little bit of snot, but nothing runny, just has sneezed a bit of snot out from time to time. This has been going on since probably Monday afternoon, and Tuesday I was sick as a dog - could barely lift my head and somehow managed a whole day looking after both DD and DS (!anything is possible!!).
I am practicing elimination communication with DD, so I'm particularly aware of the noises and wiggles she makes when she's feeling normal and doing a poo, and she's definitely not herself - she'll normally vocalise doing a wee and relax into a poo, but lately she's doing the wee quietly enough and absolutely screaming and straightening out when passing wind and passing little strings of poo.
Anyway, I was wondering if there was anything I could eat that would help the breastmilk ease DD's gut. I've never really had to modify my eating for breastfeeding, as I have a pretty balanced diet and never noticed ill-effects from eating spicy, garliced, tomatoed, or any other 'suspect' foods. I don't want to give her anything other than BM for this if I don't have to and wanted to know if there is a food or ingredient that will aid digestion and poo-passing?
