Before I had DD I was a little unsure....mainly coz i was thinking about doing it in front of people and being uncomfortable. But I really wanted to give it a go
After..I loved it, the closeness was just amazing. And the fact that you were needed...sorry if thats a silly way of putting it! My goal was to get to 6 months...if not longer
Unfortunatly i have pretty much stopped BF as i started having some supply issues. I was just topping up with formula (I felt like I was poisoning her!! lol), now she has formula all day and just 1or 2 BF at night to resettle her. I hated stopping, i cried so much :'( i loved it so much and wished i was better at it!! I love our co-sleeping night time feeds atm but i know they going to have to stop soon as i dont have much of a supply at all now
I went from not being sure of Breastfeeding to being totally obsessed with it!!! I think its so beautiful Hopefully when I have another bub I can BF for longer
Before DD, I always knew I wanted to give BF ago. My mum was not able to BF me nor my brother and my brothers ex was not able to BF my niece or nephew. I saw the difficulties that my brothers ex had and so went into my BF journey with an open mind. However I knew I wanted to feed for atleast 12months.
Now that DD is here, I still want to BF till atleast 12months, however, I have alot of difficulties to get over. I have been exclusively BF now for 10wks4days. I have had a painful start and continue to have a very sore nipple, I am constantly concerned about supply and if my DD is getting enough.
I have an amazing support network and could not keep going if it was not for my DF, family and friends. I knew BF is not easy for everyone, but I never imagined it would be this hard. I will keep feeding as long as DD wants it.
Pre kids I thought that I would breastfeed but once teeth came along I would go to formula, formula was what I knew about as I was 15 when my brother was born. When DD1 was born 6 weeks early and was in the SCU for 4 weeks I automatically started on the route of breastfeeding school and did my best to express as much as I could for her until she could suck, I wanted to feed her until 12 months if possible even though I was going back to work at 5 months, I made it to 21 months only stopping when I was pregnant with DD2. Again DD2 was 6 weeks early and she is still breastfeeding at 31months. I love the closeness of the cuddles, co sleeping has made the feeding journey easier and more convenient as well. Nana once told me to never do something standing if you could do it lying in bed, and she breastfed all 10 of her babies, most to 12 months.
Before baby, I was going to BF until baby lost baby teeth! Well, I was thinking 3-4 if I'm honest. I was disgusted at people who bought me bottles as a pregnancy gift (although polite to their faces). I shouted down people who pushed formula at me. I told people off who said it was child abuse or paedophilia or even it was weird once the child could ask for it.
3 days old, my son had formula. OK so he self-weaned from the breast at 16m, but the bottles did come in handy.
My breasts have not changed one jot. Still have tiny nipples and next to no breasts. On the bright side, not as if they could get smaller!
