what happens at birth when mum has no colostrum?

Last year I had brain surgery and my pituitary gland was entirely removed. I have NO prolactin whatsoever, therefore it is IMPOSSIBLE for me to produce breastmilk and colostrum.

I breastfed my other child until she was 2 years old, never having a problem so the I have really had to get used to the idea of having NO CHANCE of breastfeeding.

I was wondering what happens to newborns who dont have the choice of the breast?
I mean their tummies are only as big as a marble??? do i make a bottle just for its tiny weeny tummy? Normal formula or special newborn colustrum formula?

can you get fake colostrum??

I have only made 1 or 2 bottles in my life when I babysit a little baby when his mum has to work so I am really clueless about it all.

would you consider using donated BM?? milkbank i think there is one in QLD......not sure about other states but i do know of an online milkbank type of thing...

Is there a Milk Bank where you are? Maybe you could try that?

On FB, search "eats on feets." This is a group that can organise donations of EBM.

I think you could also call the breastfeeding helpline (1800 MUM 2 MUM). The mother's who answer the phones are trained counsellors, and would certainly be able to point you in the right direction. They may be able to answer questions about donated EBM as well as artificial milks.
