What position do you feed with?

I'm curious to know what positions everyone feeds/fed with, what worked for you, what didn't, what changed as they grew etc.

I have always fed DD in the cradle hold. I actually didn't really think there was any other way Even with the brace, it's cradle. My boobs are reasonably big but saggy (lol!) so they go down low enough for DD to eat.

Combo of cradle and football when she was a newborn. But now it's however she goes to it. She likes to stand and feed which I don't encourage because she likes to bounce as she does it and she has drawn blood a couple of times doing this and it's very ouchy!

    Lying down (as I'm typing!)
With ds sitting up and his legs astride my thigh
On the toilet with ds standing next to me (lol)
With ds sitting in the high chair (ok I'mlazy and he's very heavy)
With one leg up on the bench and ds sitting astride my hip and thigh while I'm stirring dinner on the stove
Lying on my back with ds crawling all over me
Cradle hold while ds tries to roll and then stand on the couch

    Anywhere anyway anytime

We're using mostly cradle hold with his legs straddling mine at the moment. We also lay down in bed sometimes, especially Sunday mornings for a quick feed then play with Daddy

    LOL, Arcadia, extreme bfing hey?!

I generally feed in the cradle hold through the day now. When the kids were little I used the football hold a bit too, but I find as they grow it gets uncomfy. Or if I am laying down on the lounge, we feed with him on my tummy and to the side a bit, resting on the back of the lounge (not a great description!) or otherwise it's laying in bed, with each of us on our side.

With DD1 it took a while before we moved on from the standard cradle hold, often using a pillow for support. She now feeds pretty much however... standing, on my lap, kneeling beside... other than her special bedtime feed (side by side in bed), she has to manouver around the newborn if she wants milk so things have gotten quite acrobatic.

With DD2 we feed in a variety of positions and have since birth basically, she has such a strong neck! We do mostly cradle hold, side by side laying and tummy to tummy laying.

I've never really mastered the football hold!!

DD is getting big enough to sit on my lap and feed with me holding my breast to her now, but she pulls on and off a lot at the moment so this is frustrating.
I can cradle hold on the right, but reqally struggle on the left.
Feeding is easiest laying donw but that's obviously not always practical.
We occassionally football hold but I need a pillow for support.

I've generally used the cradle hold for both of mine. When they were really little I would occasionally use the football hold if I felt that there was an area of the breast not being drained properly, but I was always most comfortable with the cradle hold and so were they.

Like em, now it's mostly however they decide to get on. DS is so big now that I usually make him lay across my lap where I can keep him still or I think he could do major damage, lol. DD is still usually a cradle hold, but she often gets bored and wants to sit up more and often ends up almost sitting beside my with my breast sticking out the side of her mouth, lol. She's also happy to stand and feed but also likes to bounce and dance *ouch!*

cradle hold, with my legs up and a pillow on my lap (or with my knees up, if I don't have a pillow handy).

I tried football, laying, upright, and a couple of others to see if they worked better, but they didn't.

Cradle everywhere but home (unless park or beach where often do lying down). At home he lies across me on a pillow while I am on the net so I am hands free, sometimes is like cradle just no hands and sometimes is laying the other way so feet out to side instead of across me. He doesn't sit up well enough to really do sitting up to feed although has had a bit a couple of times that way, and has just started lying on top of me when I am in bed and feeding. He still seems to get sleepy/mega relaxed when feeding so he really needs to be supported at moment. I really want to master feeding in the Ergo but seems like my boobs are too low or he is too tall.

When DS was a baby I used the football hold a lot. We used a boomerang pillow and a bunch of other pillows for support (I didn't go very far in those first few weeks) and then we progressed to cradle hold but would even then use pillows.

As DS got older it was mostly cradle hold but sometimes I would switch to football hold if he was teething and had worn my nipple a bit and it was sore. We would also lay down to feed (cause I often tried to feed him to sleep too)

Cradle hold mainly. Well it starts that way at least until DD2 gets herself into some crazy position. Lying down for night feeds. And I also feed a lot in the ergo.
