My DD is 11 months old. Since starting solids, DD has had chicken or fish with most dinners and very occasionally red meat. I find that she isn't a huge fan of red meat so very rarely give this to her as she just wont eat the meal anyway.
This last week she has had 4 meals with red meat in it - so mince on 3 occasions (shepherds pie type meal) and last night meat and veggies together - which she didn't eat much of.
On ALL occasions in the last week she has been vomiting when we put her to bed. She has never been a chucky baby and the only thing different is the red meat (she has had a bit of a cold but this is not her first cold). Last night she was up for 2 hours and threw up twice - i mean enough to change the sheets, clean the walls and have to shower and change her - so not just a little bit of a vomit! She was sick again this morning when makes me think she might have a bit of a tummy bug but i don't know - it just seems to coincidental that this has happened on all occasions where i have given her red meat for dinner.
So what i am asking is, has anyone experienced something similar? Do you think she is just unwell and it is coincidental? It can't be possible to have an allergic reaction to meat i woldn't think, but thought maybe she just has a bit of trouble breaking it down which makes her feel sick???
In your position I would eliminate the red meat for a week or 2. If she keeps vomiting it isn't the meat.
If she stops vomiting try it again in 2 weeks and if she vomits again you will know it is the meat.
My DS is 5. Since he started solids he has refused red meat and gagged when I have tried to make him eat it. He will eat a tiny bit of chicken and a bit of sausage (aka Grey Meat!), loves fruit, veg, dairy... everything but red meat. No beef, lamb, mince... won't touch it. It doesn't make him vomit, but I reckon he probably would if I made him eat it! I have finally accepted that my kid doesn't eat red meat and I figure perhaps there is some reason for it - perhaps, as you suggested, his body finds red meat difficult to digest?
Anyway, I'm not suggesting your DD shouldn't eat red meat, just sharing my experience!
My DS2 has a bit of a sensitive belly to certain things like sour cream, i swear i will never give that to him again LOL We had it with nachos once and he pucked everywhere and then a friend had made her young boy beef stroganoff (sp?) i was a bit funny about it cos i know it has a small amount of sour cream in it and sure thing about 3 hours later he sprayed the cot and carpet with puke. Sometimes he will just puke for no reason it is just his belly saying no and i don't ever force him to eat anything.
