Yup, I do the same as cookiemonster. I wear a stretchy singlet under a t-shirt. I also got some crossover tops and button up tops which are nicer to wear out. I still wear singlets under to hide the mummy tummy noone needs to see, LOL! Just pull it down under my boob. I got mine from big w in about 5 different colours, only $10 each and doesn't matter that they get stretched, just buy new ones every few months. I did the same with DD.
Mothers Direct is the store of the Australian Breastfeeding Association. They have great bras and tops and excellent service.
Having said that, special breastfeeding clothes can be nice, but aren't necessary. I have fed 4 children for many years each and have never owned any special breastfeeding clothes - just pull up your tshirt and off you go.
Also look for t-shirts that have a few buttons at the top so you can unbutton them or wear a cotton shirt that buttons down. That way you can just unbutton and away you go. You can find some good used ones on eBay for a decent price too.
I wear the bonds feeding singlets, they are fantastic. Though they generally flash more than what most want to show but just tuck the spew nappy (i.e. flat nappy lol!) under the strap and there you go, no peek-a-boos! bit exy, about $25-30, but if you can grab them on sale they are great.
Kmart had a breastfeeding singlet a lot like it though when you unclipped you would still be covered, and there was a little slot to poke the nipple through. I liked those because you aren't exposed quite as much but the support isn't the same and my straps kept unclipping as they aren't very secure.
At home if I'm just wearing normal clothes I just pull my shirt up, which is ok but bares my stretchmarky jellybelly lol, not something I'm willing to do while out, but if you wear a singlet underneath (easier in winter than in summer though) that solves that problem.
I just bought some nursing tops online (including the Bonds nursing singlets) from a site called 'nursingwear'. They have lots to pick from and there are no problems with returns etc. I have also just bought some regular button up shirts. Big W seems to have quite a few to pick from and not too expensive. I haven't bought too many of each as I'm unsure at this stage what will work - once Bub arrives and I get used to feeding I'll buy some more of what is most comfy. I had some crossover maternity tops left over from pregnancy (got these from Kmart, all the same but due to sales price varied between $7-$20) and recently when I realised that none of my summer clothes even fit over my BFing boobies, I bought a bunch of stretchy V-neck t-shirts from shops like ICE and SES.... paid a max of about $15, some were 2 for $15 or 2 for $20. I just pull down the side I want to feed from and unclip my bra and off I go.
