...That it is "ok" (by the standards on the side of the Heinz jar) that I can feed my 4 months old sugar-filled custard garbage, but I cannot let them have a teething rusk until they are 6 months and older?

Don't you know no baby has ever gone through teething earlier than six months, EVER? Obviously they're not allowed teething rusks because they're not old enough, but everyone can have sugar!

Choking risk. It's the only instantly obvious harm you could sue heinz for, so it's the only thing they care about

Hahahah, I often wonder the same thing. I was giving DD baby mum mums at around 6 months and my girlfriend asked me what it was. I showed her and said I got it at Woolworths and it was all natural blah blah and she asked if she could give her DD one. I passed it over to her and she honestly threw it back at me in horror exclaiming "It says for 12 months and over - she'll CHOKE!" Honestly, it hadn't even crossed my mind previously. We are doing BLS so I just pretty much ignore any of the warnings for choking - nuts, honey etc fair enough but the rest I just use my own decision making skills.

I know I know Where's the logic? FWIW everyone in my mothers group gave their babies rusks at around 4 months I think. I made some out of organic spelt bread and put in the freezer but DS has never needed them and he's 8 mths. Maybe it's the amber neckalce? Mind you I actually had a dream last night that he got 11 teeth all at once He's currently a gummy bear

I don't know why either. I am considering teething rusks for Lucinda as she already has 1 tooth and has another on it's way. She shows very little interest in her teethers but I think she would probably enjoy a rusk.

because sugar is addictive, and once you have them addicted to the product then a lot of parents will keep buying it to keep their babies happy at meals times. Rusks on the other hand arent that nice..
