Some lansinoh & air might help.
Tonight I've figured out why feeding DS on the left has gone steadily back to agony while the right is perfect now and the tongue tie damage on the left looks good.
I've got a kind of open wound on the bottom, not too far below the centre. Sneaky thing hid in the natural creases and got missed. Tonight though it got stuck to my breast pad and there's basically a line of pus there (sorry for the TMI)
So tomorrow I'm off to the Dr for AB cream or something, and to check for thrush. Until then does anyone know of anything at all I could put on it to make it feel better? I can't always keep DS off it, he's going to want it when he wakes overnight and I am after anything thay might help!
Some lansinoh & air might help.
Thanks CheshireIt's out in the air now lol. I don't know if the lansinoh is actually making things worse though, I'm going without tonight.
Little bit of BM? Hand express a bit and gently rub it on the sore spot? Air dry. Keep your top off tonight if you can.
You're right, Lansinoh sometimes causes more issues than it helps... Makes the environment too moist.
Big hugs. You're having a bit of a rough trot. Hang in there.
Then I'd try some BM.
T was such a lazy feeder at first, I had to deal with lots of cracked nipples & when the lansinoh didn't help a little bit of breastmilk & leaving it out really helped.
Oh obviously! I can't believe I didn't think of that! I think BM is what got the right side healed so quickly so will try that now. Thanks![]()
Bm and coconut oil.
I was cracked/bleeding with Dd due to engorgement. The coconut oil (after a feed & provided no know nut allergys jic) is antibactiral and is absorbed quickly.
Coconut oil is good for everything! I'm feeding him back to sleep on the right now so plenty of BM from the left to try and fix it. I'll stick with that while I've got it and then hopefully my gp appointment will be early.
Breastmilk and Weleda Nipple cream![]()
I slathered on the lanisoh and had to throw out about 15 tops! Stuff does not come off clothes! BM most awesome healer![]()
Another who found breast milk and air to be best. I found lanolin kept wound wet allowing it to stick to breastpads, so every time I took them off I reopened the wound. The only thing that worked in my bras was the multi-mum compresses as they weren't sticky. A nice soothing gel.
How is it today hun?
Haha Joeve, ditto! Though thankfully mine is on my breast pads. I considered getting disposable ones while I was using it regularly but I haven't found any that don't get fluff stuck to my boobs lol.
Getting better I think OP, thanksDr doesn't believe I have thrush which I'm relieved about, and honestly since finding that crack I think that is definitely the source of all the pain. She's given me an oral AB - a cream wouldn't have been any good for feeding him on that side. Four tablets a day for six days and it's supposed to work pretty quickly.
Last night DS slept in our bed because he was unsettled and only had the right, so the left got very aired out and lots of milk on it. I think that helped when I needed to feed him on it today. I think he might be getting unsettled because he's not getting the left though, and that one's always had a bigger supply and been easier to feed him on. So as much as I don't want to go through the pain I also worry he's not getting enoughTonight felt better though so I'm hoping it keeps healing and getting better from here.
You can sustain him on just one breast. You can. It'll just take some time to adjust to produce a bit more.
But. Hopefully that won't need to happen and you'll be right feeding on the sore side soon. Here's hoping for a better night.
Yeah, usually the left does the bulk of the work. I find it easier to hold him that way and he seems to find it easier to feed that side. DD was the same, so that one has always been the 'workhorse' lol. So it sucks that that's the damaged one because it wouldn't have been such an adjustment. The way we are now, a lot of supply has to swap over. Then when we're back to normal hopefully it'll even out again.
That's funny my damaged side with DS1 was also my high flow side. Don't know if that's why it was that side that got damaged, because he fed differently on that side. DS2 seems to prefer the opposite side lol.
I put diluted apple cider vinegar on mine when I get cracks. It's healing and can prevent/fix thrush. Like coconut oil, it has a lot of good qualities for both mum & bub.
it does sting a bit, but it depends on how well diluted it is. I find the sting handy to know there is a crack, so I can heal it before it gets worse.
When dd1 massacred me the only thing that helped heal it was bepanthen (the old school one, not the ointment). Just have to wash it off before a feed
