Well a bit of an update on my GF and her DD.

She had appointment today with specialist paed and he firstly thinks that her DD is suffering from reflux. She had it when she was younger but it appeared to have gone away. He thinks that this is responsible for the continued night wakings which are getting worse rather than better. My poor GF is now averaging 3 hours sleep a night. She has tried resettling and not feeding, she has tried feeding more during the day, she has tried introducing solids (that is another story) and nothing seems to work. He has put her on medication though not sure what at this stage. Taurean she is going to move baby into cot to start off with and then once Chrissy is over and the raft of rellos she has coming from o/s have gone home she is going to move her into other room. Start will be the cot which she is hopefully starting tonight

He also tested her for allergies as she came up in hives when she first tried baby rice - refuses all solids now - and she tested positive for milk protein and eggs. Paed thinks that when she does start solids she will prob be allergic to lot of other stuff too potentially. Didn't test positive for nuts though which is good.

Re reflux any suggestions that I should give to her. I haven't spoke to her but assume paed has given her advice but practical advice from Mums who've been there is always great.

Re allergies as she is BFing at present does she need to cut things out of her diet or does she just worry about that when it gets to stage that she will be taking solids. She is 6 months old next week.

I just feel so sorry for my poor friend. She is a real trooper and doesn't complain but like the other ladies here lack of sleep for that long is just a killer and now she's got 5 of her husbands family members descending on them for Christmas!
