Ok bb girls, I need a vent and some help. Since dd turned one I have been getting blocked ducts and have had mastitis twice. What is going on? I have always had a lot of milk, but never had issues before. Dd usually feeds 3-4times a day: feed to sleep at 11am again at 7pm, a quick feed at 4am and some days an arvo feed at 4pm.
Each day is so different and each night too...she's teething atm so is wakng more (and I feed back to sleep).
I offer boobie all the time but she only wants it when tired. This means I am taking her off when she's asleep so I don't even know if she drains the breast.
Urgh...feeling over feeding today...a new feeling for me!!

Is it possible that she is not draining the breast when she is feeding to falling asleep? Perhaps if she falls asleep and you are unsure try and express and keep it as back up for food or EBM for bottle.
Keep an eye on the fever..that sounds like Mastitis creeping in again.

How have you been trying to drain the lumps? Have you tried feeding on all fours? Sometimes that can help as you have gravity on your side. Many phsyios also use ultrasounds to break up lumps, and some mums have had luck with using vibration at home. I have heard of electric toothbrushes being used, but apparently vibrators work best LOL!
This might be happening if your little one is not attaching well anymore. Sometimes this happens as they get older, more active and more distracted. This might be something to pay some attention to for a little while.
