Well my nipples are still very sore and cracked after starting my second course of AB and using daktarin so i have been prescribed Kenacomb at my insistence after an LC from my local aba did some investigating for me.
The problem is that the doctor knew nothing about using it for nipples and Mothersafe wasn't open by the time i got back. I don't feel right ringing the LC on a Friday night at home.
The dr said 3 times per day for 3-4 days, does this sound right? The BB main site says after every feed but when the LC rang Mothersafe yesterday they said to use sparingly and wipe off after feeds. I'm so confused and wish i could remember more of the conversation with LC but both kids were crying and it was a disaster really.
so if you have used this please let me know how you used it and whether you found it effective.
TIA
Yes I used this on my very cracked bleeding nipples in the early weeks and it made a HUGE difference.
I honestly can't quite remember what "dosage" was recommended by my LC but I am pretty sure it was put on after every feed during the day. Then wiped gently off before the next feed.
i use kenacomb on my sons willy- it is great stuff
it fixes everything from nipples, to splinters to toe jam to thrush!!
yes you can use it for nipples for a fungal or a normal infection. I would probably wipe it off before feeding and then re-apply after a feed
try the local chemist- give them a call and they should know
otherwise ring the ABA line
mum2mum or something like that- or nurse on call
they are open 24 hours so more of a chance to call when you can concetrate
if you dont get anywhere with them- i would ring the ED at the local hossy - there would surely be someone there that would know!!!
GL!
kenacomb literally fixed once and for all an ongoing nipple problem i had when bfing ds2. i had tried everything else, had mastitis 5 times and the kenacomb finally put an end to it all and i went on to feed for 20 months. i used to put it on after a feed and then run the tap over my breast before feeding again.
Thanks everyone. I feel it is making a difference especially now that DD's oral thrush is getting better. Just gotta get the cracks healed properly. I ended up ringing Mothersafe and they said 3-4times per day and not to wash off unless you can see it. I'm not sure how long to use it though? Apparently there isn't much published on using kenacomb on the nipples.
