We didnt use gaviscon, we used plain mylanta, you can use a syringe directly in the mouth. I think we started off on one ml 3 times a day, and ended up on 1.5ml. You can give it before a feed, to line the stomach as drinking can cause discomfort or about an hour after a feed, when the stomach is emptying, and the burning can start again. We found an hour after a feed was best for DD2, it helped calm her down and stay asleep instead of starting her crying, thrashing routine. Depends what time upsets your bub I suppose. A dr can give you the dosage, it depends on bubs weight. Instead of losec we were given zantac, which doesn't need to be mixed, its just straight. I think losec is generally given first, and zantac is mainly given for GORD, but I know the 2 can also be combined in severe cases.
The medication may not reduce the amount she throws up, but will stop the burning when she does. It can take up to a couple of week for the medication to really start to make a difference.
