Blocked milk ducts for several days

    Hi all,

You might remember me from such threads as "Completely Desperate" and "Are some problems unresolvable". Well now we have a new challenge - blocked ducts that never quite seem to go away.

This is my 5th set of lumps, 2 of which have ended in mastitis, and the others didn't only because I was still on antibiotics. It happens in one side only, and no matter what I do I just can't seem to get rid of them when they're here (or prevent them from happening).

    I have tried:
    massage
    heat
    expressing - hand and electric
    changing positions
    taking magnesium/calcium/b6
    bath/shower

It gets to the point where I am so sore I can't even touch them.

I do have Raynaud's, which causes vasospasm, and it is particularly bad on that side (very painful feeding). But a LC I saw is confident that attachment is correct

My question is, what do you do when you've done everything there is to do, and the blocked ducts are still there? I have been expressing both sides today, to take a break from the pain, and that side has been giving out half as much as the other side. I've also been having to express more than I should just to get the amount for a feed.

Is it possible I have an abcess without the pain? Is it weird to daydream about someone sticking a needle in there and drawing all the blocks out?

Am booked in to GP for Wed, but that seems a really long way away right now!

    Thanks for your help!

(PS I've read about lecithin helping, but I can't have soy as baby is allergic. Can you get non-soy-based lecithin and does it even help anyway?)
