Thrush is a battle of bacteria. The side with the most soldiers wins, when you have thrush you have too much bad bacteria outnumbering the good. So try and put more good bacteria in your body, like I mentioned with Fast Tract, or some other preparation if its too expensive for you (its expensive but the best). When you add up the cost of all those creams and they havent worked, plus the pain and discomfort... you can put it into perspective - and prevent it in future.

Hi Angie and others interested in the candida diet.
Basically as I mentioned it means eliminating yeast, most carbs and dairy. Some suggestions made were rice cakes, using pure nut spreads, raw vegies, only low sugar friut such as apples and pears, no mushrooms as they are high in yeast. Annie the ABA councillor also said that you need lots of protein such as nuts, seeds, legumes etc to maintain energy while BF and other interesting things such as not to eat garlic around the time you have your probiotics as garlic is a natural antibiotic and cancels out the good bacteria. I have done Dr Sandra Cabots liver cleaning diet a few times and the food suggested is similiar so it might be good to have a look at some of the recipies in it or look up candida diets on the web for more suggestions. Basically it's about raw foods with no extra sugar. Annie said that you need to eat a decent amount though as BF takes most of your calories and these need to be replaced. She siad I should feel better within a week and have lots more energy as candida makes you lethargic apparently. Hope this helped a little.

If the thrush treatment isn't working, or working on and off, you might also have an underlying bacterial infection. My nipple pain didn't go away until I took ABS AND nilstat cream on nipples at same time. Each by themself didn't work.

Also a friend had chronic thrush which only went away after she stopped using disposable breast pads and started using only cloth ones. So if you're using sposies maybe switch to cloth for a couple of weeks and see if that makes a difference.

Kenacomb (I think) is antibacterial and antifungal, can get it from the chemist. Thats what a few LC's that I know recommend.

Hi everyone, I went to the docs today and he did a swab and gave me a script for flucazole which is apparently pretty strong but should hopefully work in a few days. The doc also managed to get authority for me so I don't have to pay $555 (it's not on PBS) for it. So will continue with daktarin, the diet and the probiotics and see how I go. I really hope it works so that BF can be enjoyable. I had to put Olive on the boob today as we were out and I had no expressed milk and she sucked so well which was good as I was getting worried about nipple confusion etc with her having the bottle so much. God it hurt though, i'd kind of forgotton but it was nice to cuddle her in close for a feed again.
