i wondered if it was because she was getting bigger and stronger. She's clamped down a few times and by golly did it hurt!!
I had a look at the bottom part of my nipple when she was feeding but it seemed fine.
Will try the lying down feed for a few days and see how we go with that.

Given the age of your baby and the symptoms you describe I think your nipples must be a bit infected with something? I'd be heading along to the dr - a crme like kennacombe may help (a bit of a scattergun approach - but helpful when we don't actually know what's happening.) Has baby started solids yet? Sometimes mums nipples have a bit of a reaction to the solids in the saliva.
This will all pass quickly - but it is worrying and frustrating when it happens
i think it might be thrush!
she has white patches on the inside of her cheeks and a sprinkling on her lip.. its not on her tongue though?
is that a possibility?
I was going to suggest thrush as a possibility too especially with your recent type 1 D diagnosis hun......if you bsls were quite high at diagnosis it is very possible candida fungii have set up house.....you might want to look at a maintenance plan of a good acidopholus supplement as thrush can be an occupational hazard with type 1 especially in the early days while things are getting stabilised.
