So DD3 is 9.5 months and I've always leaked from the other side when feeding, then would leak at night, wake up full etc. About a month before I moved back to qld (say November) I stopped leaking. Which was fine, she was still feeding every 2.5-3 hours during the day and twice during the night so I knew she was feeding ok.
Then when I moved I was drinking more water so started leaking again. But since a bout of gastro the other day it's all gone again, plus dd3 has really cut down her feeds or is having really short feeds so now I feel like I have no milk! Is that possible? What can I do to bring it back? She's not feeding so I can't do the usual "feed feed feed" to bring it back...
It's 11.20 now and she hasn't fed off the right side since 3am and it feels empty. Her last feed (left) was at 6am. I tried to feed her before and she was not at all interested. Would she be like this cos my milk has gone or because she's dropping feeds?!
It's all so confusing and worrying - I really want to feed her until she's 1.
Just keep feeding her as normal babe sounds like your supply may have adjusted really well. I know when I stopped leaking and feeling full all the time I thought my milk was gone but it really doesn't just disappear in a flash. If she is dropping feeds too your supply will just adjust but not disappear - I would keep offering feeds at different times as she might be going through an adjustment as she gets older plus having solids etc. Keep up your fluids too. xoxoxox
It sounds like everything has settled down rather than gone. I fed DD till 12mths and like you, I felt quite empty at times, she was still satisfied enough and definitely still getting milk. The leaking and in-convenient let downs (like when I was at the supermarket shopping ) stopped at around about the same age your DD3.
If you are super concerned, purchase some brewers yeast and put it on your cereal to help boost supply and keep up the water drinking, especially now you are in a warmer climent.
Yep, sounds pretty normal I stopped leaking regularly a while ago, it only happens if she's going through a period of back-to-back feeds (thank goodness! I hate leaking )
Wanted to add too that as they get older there is far too much stuff going on to worry about eating, and they are so easily distracted so maybe try feeding in a quiet place (heehee hard with 4 I know!) with a sheet over you and some music on or something?!
Sounds fine to me. I think if your supply was decreasing she would want to feed more, not less. I would think it's the other way around, i.e. she's not interested in feeding as much, maybe spacing feeds out a bit as she gets older and eats more, so your supply is adjusting to that. Your boobs have been doing this for almost 10 months now. They know exactly what they're doing and how to do it, even if you don't. No need to worry
