Question Gaviscon and Breastfed Babies - Poo Question

DD2 is on Losec morning and night 7.5-10mg each dose and now also on Gaviscon each feed, so we finally have no screaming and a HUGE reduction in the amount of spew, hasn't stopped it all but a lot better than where we were

I am also on a no dairy diet, if I do eat more than a little bit of cheese her poo goes green and horrible

She has only been on the gaviscon each feed for a week via a syringe, she hadn't poo'd for a few days, and I noticed that today she pooed and it wasn't anything like her normal poos. The colour was the BF mustard colour poo, but it was relatively solid I could pick up most of it off the nappy and dispose of it. Would this be because of the Gaviscon being a thickener, or a sign that she may be getting constipated?

    Anyone else experienced the same?

    TIA

When DS was on giviscon yes it did make his poos alot more solid. I found what worked was giving him some lacteeze tablets before each feed.

Most liquid antacids will bung you up a bit, so I would say it is the gaviscon.

    Thanks so much ladies

I'll see how she goes, she wasn't phased by it, so I won't give her anything else atm as she is on enough as it is, unless it gets worse, or she gets in pain

Oooohh... I am obviously tired! We started DD on Gaviscon a few days ago for suspected silent reflux... yesterday she had a very hard time passing a crayon which was pretending to be a poo. I couldn't figure out why her poo was suddenly so hard!! D'oh !!

So the Lacteeze is instead of Gaviscon and won't cause constipation? I've never heard of it before, do I get it from the chemist?? TIA...

In our case lacteeze worked, if you google it it will come up with what it does. It certainly helped DS reflux so much so that he didnt need any other meds. I got mine from the chemist wearhouse but its easy to track down
