Hi! I successfully weaned my DD almost 2 weeks ago now but my breasts are still full and sore! I gradually weaned, it took about a month and had no troubles but since weaning all together my breasts are soooooooo sore! I have tried expressing a couple of times just to feel comfortable but it doesn't help! Is this normal? Does it usually take this long for your milk to dry up? I didn't have this problem with my DS I just stopped no problem!
Any help would be awesome! I just want to know I'm not a freak and it will go away eventually!
xox
Took about 2 months to completely dry up with both of mine (although it was a really tiny amount at the end), so 2 weeks sounds really quick from where I stand ..
Hi Nay - I've been much in the same boat as you. Fully weaned DD two weeks ago. First week was a nightmare. PAIN!!! And we were only on one feed a day, from one side only. I kept expressing until comfort level only, and just comfort. Was still tender to touch, but not so painful that I could actually focus on something else. Over the weekend, I only expressed once, and have barely expressed at all this week, but have continued to massage so the lumps I could feel forming have gone. Today's probably the first day I've not felt tender to touch, thank goodness. I haven't taken any tablets or drunk coffee (can't drink it anyway) - my SIL was told to drink it as the caffeine helps reduce the milk - and it seems to be working at last.
When I weaned all my boys, my milk stayed for about 6 months. Settled down after about 1 month, but even at about the year mark there was still milk in there if i squeezed it......
Be careful taking tablets. My doc gave them to me and I was vomiting and feeling sick for days with terrible headaches.
They also were supposed to dry me up in 3 days but it didn;t work anyway. Its ben 7 weeks for m and I still have some milk there!
