Left hand side oversupply. How can i sort it out?

I seem to have an oversupply in my left breast. I feed off it as much as the right but for some reason it always feels engorged and as a result ds can attach properly and im in lots of pain on that side. It seems to cause DS2 lots of issues too. Whenever i feed from that side he is really unsettled for hours after with lots of wind and doing lots of poo's. He never throws up after the right side either but after the left side he seems to have a fountain inside him. Can i do something to reduce the supply in my left breast?

Yay for lots of milk though. Have you tried hand expressing a bit off the left side before putting ds on for a feed? It will help soften it a little so he gets good attatchment and also try feeding leaning back a bit so the milk isnt as fast flowing. I'm having a few spewy issues with dd atm and i think its worse too when i'm fuller. I have found doing these things has helped but i'm still getting the occassional exorcist spew from her

Iv been expressing a bit as its nearly impossible to get him on unless i do. I find at the moment it just drips out so there is alot of milk in there. I have tried to lean back but ds tends to slip off when i move too much so i kind of feel like a statue while feeding lol.

It will settle down in a few weeks - in the meantime lots of washing unfortunately!
You can try and block feed - i.e. use only one side for a couple of feeds and then swap to the other one. This reduces oversupply, but it may also be uncomfy - and it is really important to hand express as needed for comfort and to avoid blocked ducts and engorgement.

How uncomfortable that must be I also suggest expressing from that side before expressing - express until you get a let down. It might also help to do a one-off full expression from that breast - there might some blood and lymphatic fluid there too which is stopping the milk draining well. In this case a one-off express can be very helpful. Once you've done that see how you go. If that side gets engorged again, you could try doing 2 feeds from the right side for every left side feed, to try and reduce the supply on the left side (the more you feed from a breast the more milk it makes). If you try this, it's important you express for comfort from the left side though. Whenever your breast is full enough to be hard and lumpy you are at risk of mastitis, so you need to express enough to feel comfortable again.

Best of luck hun. I hope it settles down quickly for you.
