Hi I have been in hospital for just over 24 hours I am having to express milk then feed also formulae he has not pooed f

i think your post cut out. how old is bub now? are you able to have bub brought to you for feeds?

I think this is a 1-day old baby who hasn't yet pooed and they are trying to feed him/her up in order to get him to do so.
Expressing very frequently is your best bet at this stage.
Also call the ABA helpline (1800Mum2Mum) or ask to see a lactation specialist in the hospital - it seems an overreaction to me, but I may be wrong.

July 30th from Belly Buddies group:

our little boy arrived via c section at 12.19pm 9 pounds 56cm called William Colin otherwise he is such a little cutie. I love the service and help from Redlands hospital since this is number 1.

So William is 9 days old? Has he not pooed at all? No tar like stuff?

Are you still making colostrum or more milky/yellow milk now?

What sort of pump are you using? A hospital grade electric one?

dont panic as long as he is hydrated

Hey all he wasn't able to stay with me but now he is and has pooed finally after 24 hours. Now he has conjunctivitis in one eye can't win

my little one had conjunctivitis. wiped his eye with warm damp cotton wool ball and gave him drops every 4hrs and it cleared in 3 days

Breastmilk is great for cleaning eyes that have conjunctivitis. Hope you both feel better soon and can get home.
