My first ever bf woo hoo!!

I am so proud to be able to post this and if you had told me 12 weeks ago that i was going to be posting this i would have probably laughed at you. I only bf DS1 for 4 days for many reasons. The short story is that he was a very sleepy bub, had major issues getting him attached and interested in bf and as a first time mum i was overly anxious about everything and i think i even suffered a bit of PND and was not able to bond with him and as a result he was ff from very early on.

With DS2 i really wanted to bf but due to my previous experience i was hesitant to get my hopes up and as a result i want into it with a what will be will be attitude. Today DS2 is 13 weeks which mean that he has now had nothing but booby juice made by ME for 12 weeks ( the first week he was in the neo natal unit and i had to go home without him for 1 night so they had to ff while i wasn't there and he also had to prove that he could suck effectively etc to be released from the hospital).

I am so proud of us as i really didnt have alot of confidence that we could do it but together we made a great team. The time hasnt been without its problems and being a ff mum the first time around i had to get my mind into a completely different mindframe which was hard for me and dh had to push me quite hard at times to keep going but we did and here we are.

Thank you also to everyone who offered their advice and support both before DS was born and after to help us get over some initial hurdles. I couldnt have done it without all your words and advice.

    Congratulations! Awesome effort.

I reckon breastfeeding your child, after bottlefeeding your first child, must be more challenging than if you are able to get it to work the first time because it's like you learn one set of rules and then have to learn a different set the next time. I really admire those give it a second try and who get it to work.

Woohoo, good on you!!!! I agree with Kate, it must be such a big mind shift to BF after you have FF your first baby, what a tremendous job you are doing

Thanks everyone! I am very proud of how far we have come and happy that DS was so boob obsessed lol.

Going from ff to bf was a huge mind shift. I really struggled in the early days not knowing how much he was getting and remembering that bf and ff are so different. I'm lucky that DS is such a great weight gainer and is gaining weight as fast if not faster than his ff brother so that has helped my confidence and allowed me to trust my body.
