Question Nipple thrush - using Daktarin gel.....

DD weaned herself a few weeks back now so I haven't been breastfeeding however occasionally (once or twice a day, some days not at all) DD will ask for it and I let her have a little suck even though my milk has gone. I think she asks for it out of habit, yk?
Although it seems now I have got nipple thrush.....I've had it before when DD was very little so I know the symptoms etc. It's been stinging/burning and it's quite red in the very middle of the nipple.
Had it for a few days now, finally went to chemist yesterday and got Daktarin gel, have been applying it liberally for 2 days now and so far I don't feel like it's getting any better.....

Any idea on when I should be feeling some relief from using Daktarin? It's so sore

    Thanks!

I would think you would have started having some relief after a couple of days. My mastitis started as you describe, i thought it was thrush, could it be that?

hun that sucks, especially after you have weaned.

Are you treated DD as well? Perhaps she has been re-transmitting it back to you? I would have expected it to start clearing by now too. Perhaps a visit to your MCHN/CFHN to get it checked might help?

I hope it clears up soon. I had it twice and it is really the pits.

I haven't let DD latch on since I started the daktarin gel so we can't keep infecting each other. Thats if DD even has it. I should give her some but her mouth appears normal and isn't saying it's sore?

I am now thinking it's a blister. One area on nipple hurts more. Do u have to pop blisters? I can't see one though lol! I'm confused as to what I have. Might see my mchn Friday, she is an LC.

When i had mastitis, a small portion of one nipple was itchy and a bit sore, the rest was fine. It was slightly red and maybe a tiny bit inflamed but not bad.

you might also need to take the thrush tablets. i did for nipple thrush. i would get both you and DD checked for it. also, make sure that you keep changing bras often (to stop re-infection) it is a total PITA, took me weeks (but i was BF full-time...)
