One boob or two?

Hi, another BF question!

My baby is 4 weeks and currently only drinks from one breast per feed at a time. I offer her the other breast unless she's fully asleep and 95% of the time she won't take it. Sometimes when she does she throws up the extra milk (or some of it) anyway. Is this ok in terms of getting enough milk? Should I be trying harder to have her drink from boob number two?

My DS has always been a one boob per feed baby. From day one. I can count on one hand how many times he's had both boobs for one feed. So I'd say it's fine. They're pretty good at knowing what they need He's 2 now and still only has one boob each go

I really stressed about this with DD1, till an LC told me to chill out LOL both of my girls have only really every had one boob per feed (not including those swap swap swap growth spurt days) if she is gaining and you are getting wet nappies then one boob is fine. (in fact my DD2 only fed from my left breast for over a year)

DS was another one boob per feed baby and he's perfectly happy and healthy

As long as there are plenty of wet nappies bub will be getting enough

Isaac only has one side at a time. Or he did until he decided he has to change sides every 3 seconds

My DD was a one side only bub until around 4 months if I remember correctly, and even then she only took both sides at select feeds during the day. Took a while (around 6 the month-ish mark) for her to want both at every feed.

It amazed me how my milk adjusted too, for the first week or so I felt rather uneven after feeds but they settled down really quickly.

How will i know if/when she needs two boobs? Or what if she seems like she doesn't want more (ie falls asleep and doesn't seem interested even if I tickle her lips with the milk on the nipple) but she needs more and is too dozy to demand?

Should add she's not a sleepy baby but like many babies does fall asleep at the breast

I would say keep offering both sides and maybe at her next spurt, she'll want from both, or not. Can do naught but offer

My DD2 prefers one side per feed most times. I was a bit concerned at first but I just go with it now and she's gaining fine despite being a happy chucker too I always offer the other side but no longer push it. If she's due for a sleep and wakes when I transfer, then I offer the other side and find she'll often take a bit. She only really takes both sides for her night feed and the bed time feed.

I've also noticed that in the past week when she has taken milk from the other side she seems to bring more milk back up- as though the extra she took was too much anyway.

One boob babies here. If I gave them other boob I would get covered in spew.

Both mine have been regular feeders (2 hourly) from just one boob, and both have had huge wight gains.

Follow your baby! If she wants the other side she'll let you know.
