My left boobie has a really hard and mega sore area! It is soo painful and is making feeding very uncomfortable.
I've been feeding off it to see if it settles down cos I was thinking maybe a blocked duct, but I think it is making it worse. It covers an area the size of my palm! I don't think that is a blocked duct???
It even hurts to touch... Any ideas? I'll be going to the doctors later today but just wanted to ask the wise ladies of bb first
Ouch, you poor thing Im not going to be much help either but could it be mastitis??? Is it reddened? I understand thats pretty awful (I wad more of a block duct girl) Definately get it checked, especially if you are heading there anyway. Hope it eases soon hun, but would be very interested to hear the Drs verdict :hugs: hang in there BFing is hard work but you are doing an awesome job!
Check and see if you can see any white spots on your nipple... that's where the blockage will come out if you can see it. I find a HOT shower and a massage on that area then basically hand expressing (or trying to - I found that basically "milking" yourself lol.. for want of a better way to say it... was better than rubbing and massaging the whole side to the nipple better. I hold my boob and put my thumb above the lump/hard area and then use the other hand to do the expressing. Hope that makes sense.) will help and you'll find that white spot will POP out like a cork and the milk will spray out and the relief is sooooo great. It will still be rather tender though, but you need to work through that pain. Also, keep feeding off that side. How long has it been like that?? If it's only like a day it shouldn't be mastitis. I've had some pretty major blockages but if you get onto them you can usually avoid the mastitis. HTH.
