    OUCH- my sore boob!

Ok so DS who is 20 months has been feeding like a champ since birth
about 6 weeks ago he thought it would be fun to bite me really hard
ever since then i have been in pain when i feed from that side- esp the first few sucks!
On the weekend I developed a milk bleb so i opened it up with a pin, but didnt seem to get anything out, but it did disappear. I then put Kenacomb prescription anti-biotic/anti-fungal cream on it for a few days

I am still in pain! Now it even when i am not feeding! Shooting pain which even goes into my back as well as breast pain that i feel like i have to grab my breast it is so sore and hot
i am massaging it heaps esp when feeding and using the shower head to apply pressure and warm water on it twice a day
No flu signs but just lots of pain
does anyone have any ideas what else i can do ?
    Esp for the pain!
It is crazy that after 20 months of awesome feeding, I am now getting pain and problems now!!
    HELP!

Maybe it's infected or something...? Perhaps would be best to get a medical opinion - they can do a swab to check for that sort of thing.

oh no det, it sounds like an abscess.
Have you tried cold compress? Pain relievers like panadol and nurofen?

Hope you get some relief, but I'd be making an appointment to have it looked at hun.

    grrr
there is nothing left to see on the outside now except now i have a couple of cracks as he hasnt been attaching like normal with me massaging my boob the whole time i am feeding him! Where i drained it has healed up fine now- it was definately a milk bleb (blister) looked exactly like pics on net- and it was on my nipple ( i forgot)
i slept with a heat pack on on side last night and it seemed to help a little- just this shooting pain and muscle pain is driving me ape!
    any other ideas??

Was the pin you used on the bleb sterilised? Was it the first time you've used the kenacomb? Creams that have been used before can carry germs (from the finger that was in it last), as of course can anything that pierces the skin. It's possible you have an infection in your breast tissue from one of those sources, or the open skin when you were bitten, or from something else. It could also be thrush - that can cause stabbing pains. It might be an idea to see a breastfeeding savvy doctor to get some treatment for one or both of those conditions if it's not healing on it's own. Good luck.
