DD is 7mths and her pinching is getting worse when she's feeding. She will either pinch my arms or my breast and not a gentle pinch she will leave marks and sometimes even draw blood, how do I/ can I get her to stop?
Ouch!! My ds used to be so bad with this, he often broke the skin... It was a real soothing thing for him. I used to cover most off my boob so he couldn't get to it, and then put my finger in his hand do he could hold on to it instead.
Now he is older he prefers to pull my hair instead! Something for you to look forward too
Nelle: thanks but I don't like things around my neck chest ever since I had shingles there.
Appletree: lol thanks good to know i have that to look forward to, she pulls my hair when shes not feeding as it is. She uses both hands to pinch me lol so holding one only halves the pain and on the breast she pinches right where her mouth is.
Try giving her something else to do with her hands or even look at - a picture book for example. Or feed her so that she can watch out the window (or even watch telly) while she is feeding.
Have something soft with you (eg a toy or even some rolled up socks) and put her hand on that when you remove it from you. Hopefully it will feel interesting enough to buy you some time.
She's starting to learn as well, and experimenting with her world and her motor skills - which at the moment means being mean to you. It may be time for her to learn that if you pinch Mum then Mum goes away for a minute - but she won't like it at all.
I have no advice, just wanted to say I feel your pain. Dd pinches, scratches, punches and pulls my hair whilst feeding. If she's not doing that she bites. She's a complete bugger to feed these days. I take her off but she doesn't care, she just gets cranky about 20 minutes later when she realises she's still hungry. So I know how you feel.
