Is she weening? *cry*

Hi,
she's not weaning, she's too young. At her age, your baby needs breastmilk and solid foods - she is a big girl now - she knows how to get both. So don't offer her extra bottles or this will in fact lead to premature weaning. At this age babies are so "busy" - so much to look at. The bottle can seem so easy - when your little head swivels to look at something new - the bottle can just follow. But, just as when she has solids she has to "sit up at the table' - when she breastfeeds she has to sit up at the table too.
Many mothers notice their babies are less interested in breastfeeding in the 10-12 mnth range - but stick with it. After 12 mnths they often have a renewed intrest

Barb, you are an angel of support and wisdom! Thank you for giving me that information. That really does make sense as we dont have any problem bf if its the middle of the night and it is completely dark lying in bed. Less distractions.

Out of curiousity, what duration would you expect a feed to last for a 10.5mth old? Is 5 minutes to quick? She often only feeds off one side for a feed. I offer the other side but she seems to have had enough.

I was going to say the same thing as Barb. Has she started moving recently, by any chance?
5 minutes is plenty long enough; 2 minutes even! I suspect if you ditch the bottles and just let her feed when she's willing then she'll be "back" pretty soon.

This is exact same thing happening to us here too at 10.5 months, was thinking of putting her on the bottle but going to persevere with the breast feeding

5 mins is more then enough at 10/11 mnths DS was usually feeding for 2 mins max, most of the time he wouldn't take the other side. BUT I did notice it does change and he would go through periods of taking both sides again.

When I have re-read this thread it reminded me when DS was about this age that I thought he was weaning as well cause he had cut down on some feeds and didn't seem interested but we are still going and nearly at 24 mnths

I do find that DS tends to not feed as much when he is teething, when I am O and when AF is around so if all of that is having at once I tend to have a slight panic that this is going to be it but we keep going

Goodluck and I hope, if you are happy to keep going, that this isn't the end.
