    Time and supply

Dd2 feeds very different to how dd1 fed.
My milk is in now and she will quite happily only feed 10 min per side. Is that long enough? Will she be getting hind milk in that? Her stools are green, not mustard colour.

Also, with dd1 I had oversupply, engorgement etc. I don't seem to have that this time so I'm not really sure if I'm normal now. My breasts feel full before a feed, soft after? Is that too early for them to be like this?

Dd2, sleeps well between feeds, wees, poos (issue being the colour).

Just want some reassurance all is good, or what I might need to change.

Little o - this time is different for me too.

DS2 only feeds 10 mins as well (a bit longer now he's. 3 weeks) but the mw said keep trying with the same side at least 2 or 3 times before going to the other side. At first he'd only have the one boob and be done after 10 mins, then I'd offer again (he needed a rest obviously) and he'd have a little more on same breast. I'm sure he's getting hind milk this way. Green stools I think mean maybe there's more fore milk but not enough hind milk (someone correct me if I'm wrong ). So maybe persist on the same one before swapping. Clearly soft boobies doesn't mean you're on empty. They probably just know what they're doing this time and have settled into a groove faster.

Also this time for me, even though my boobies feel full , they are still quite soft. No engorgement like rocks.... More like a really good boob job!!

I'm obviously making enough even with soft boobies as DS is really filling out fast here and pooping for Australia!

Sounds too like she knows what she's doing! Go you

If you're seeing the indicators of adequate intake, then all is well.

    All good little_o

All babies are different. DD1 would take an hour to feed! DD2 would only take 5-10 mins and I couldn't get her to have any more. And DD3 is different again, the other two would just feed every 2-3hrs whereas she likes to have one side when she wakes up then have a break and have the other side to go to sleep. She also has a lot of little 'snack' feeds too. As long as you're demand feeding and she's weeing and pooing enough then all is good!

My boobs were also different the second and third time around. First time there was engorgement, always leaked until she was 1 yo, felt full all the time, oversupply, etc. By the second time it's like my boobs have gotten the hang on it, haha. I did have engorgement in the first few days with DD2 and DD3 but it settled much quicker. Boobs are bigger but definitely soft after a feed and only really get the hard feeling if she's slept for extra long or I've fed off the wrong side in the night or something. Also I only leaked for the first few months with DD2 and this time not much leaking at all.

Don't worry, your boobs have it all under control, lol

It sounds perfect to me! You could always pop bub on the same breast after they come off just to be sure they're finished before swapping sides. Fwiw my ds only fed ten minutes from one side per feed, but fed 2 hourly.

As madB says, if she is gaining weight, alert and with good output then all is perfect!

Just to address the poo colour question - what sort of green are we talking? Olive green or a lighter green? What about appearance of the stool? Does it look strange, apart from the colour?

I'd say olive green, on the darker side and quite runny.

Is it mucousy? Green poo can be a lactose overload, but it can also be a dairy protein intolerance and it can be normal!!!!!

    Re: Time and supply

No not mucousy. The last couple have been yellow, I have been trying to feed her a bit more extendedly on each side.

Runny poo is normal in the early days isn't it. Can't believe how quickly I've forgotten everything!
