Upset stomach will this affect bub via BF

    Hi Ladies,
Just wondering, I've got an upset stomach, sorry if TMI but it's the runs, I'm guessing from something I ate, left overs from yest maybe. I know you have to be careful what you eat when BF to avoid wind etc, will this reaction to something I've eaten affect bub? It's not food poisoning just that something hasn't agreed with me I'd say.
    Thanks.

Have you had your baby Babyluv? Just looking at your ticker I'm wondering if it's the runs you can get before labour kicks in?

Otherwise, if bub is here & you are BF, then just maintain good hygiene with hand washing etc and bubs will be fine. You wont pass gastro on through breastmilk, and you'll be passing on some immunity to it.

HTH & hope you feel better soon xo

Just what Winter said babe, your wee one will be getting immunity from your breast milk. Just make sure to wash your hands thoroughly!

Hope you're feeling better soon xxxx

Yes had bub, she is 2 weeks old, was just worried that if something I've eaten has made my belly that it will make her belly upset too.

It shouldn't do if you keep washing your hands and hand baby over to to your DH when your finished feeding.
I had gastro when DD was only a few months old and she didn't get it as I was BF and the breast milk gave her great resitance and I pretty much only fed her and handed her over straight away when I was done.
Just remember to try and keep yourself hydrated. I remember DD being particularly fussy after my bout of gastro as I couldn't stomach alot of food or water and I think??? my supply was down, so she wanted to feed extra.
    Hope you feel better soon.

You definitely can't make your little one sick through your breast milk hun - whether it's gastro or food poisoning. Continuing to bf is the best thing you can do. I hope you feel better soon
