After 8 weeks I'm still cracking every few days, but only on the right side (have tried football hold on that side). Nothing is right.
Summer is clicking with every suck. So loud that when on the phone & feeding this morning my friend jokingly said 'tell that baby to latch already!'
I dunno why, but its not happening. Position, reattatching, no matter what I try we can't fix it. She slips off, gulps air & only feeds through letdown & is finished. Thats 10 minutes at the most.
She has good out put & is gaining weight ok. Could be better though. Averaging about 100 grams/week.
They think its more about the shape of her mouth. She has a high narrow palate & possibly her suck/swallow reflex is out of wack. There is no visible tongue tie, unless its posterior.
So we are meeting with the LC/MW, CHN/LC & speech therapist. Lets hope missy is hungry at the right time this time, lol.
FWIW DS has a high palate. The midwife were worried about it in hospital but I had a good LC show me how to get heaps of boob in there and we have been going great ever since. I did however have tender nipples for a good 8 weeks, never cracking tho but o swore by marcallen cream. I think it helped them keep them from not drying out between feeds as it puts a barrier...
Anyway, I hope someone can help you ASAP *crosses fingers*
maybe shes had enough after 10 mins and her attachment goes haywire because she really doesnt want it anymore??? 10 mins is good and it sounds like shes an effecient feeder just a thought
