What do you do while Breastfeeding?
How much do you interact with your LO while feeding?

We're down to just one feed per day now, but when I was full time breastfeeding I used to treat that time as my rest and relaxation, so I would watch some tv, facebook/google/bb on my phone etc.

DD can be really easily distracted so I tend not to interact with her much at the moment. I'm finding tv adds to the distractors, so it's FB, BB, twitter and games on my phone. When I remember I'll grab my kindle and read a book

dEpends on the age. When they are little little I did one of 2 things. Either stared at them & played with their fingers OR fell asleep lol

If it's nap or bed time, I read. Otherwise, feeds are so short now I just gaze at DD, chat with DS/DH and get cranky at DD for pinching my other nipple lol

Most of the time during the day absolutely nothing because she is distracted by anything and everything at the moment. I will also sometimes have to try to hold her hands still so she doesn't scratch or pinch. Once she's finished her feed and has got to the point where she's just stuffing around then I'll start to interact with her and play - chewing her fingers etc. Its a nice way to play with her but it also stops her munching and/or scratching/twisting/pinching my nipples - not sure where she heard that breastfeeding is an extreme sport for mamas.

If she's having a sleepy feed at night I will either watch tv or read. Night feeds are lying down in bed and if I haven't already fallen asleep it will stroke her head

Depends on the age, and the day. When DD got to the age where everything was a distraction, I'd just sit there and state out the window or lie down and sleep lol. When she was little, I'd state at her, or play in my phone, or take pics of her. It just depended on how I was feeling.

with a wee little bub I generally gaze at her, play with her hair and smother her in kisses...

but if she tells me to back off (darn it!) then i get on BB and FB

The other day I wrangled DD and DS at DD's grandparents picnic at kinder, while BF. That was fun. Why shouldn't DS2 get lunch while we had ours???

Pity he demanded it as we arrived at kinder so I had to sign DD in, set up our picnic and get lunch for the kids, plus keep an eye on the two ferals, all while BF. Fab!

At night I sleep

I use to browse BB on my phone, but now her feeds are so short and to the point I dont have time! plus sometimes if I'm not looking at her she stops. so these days I look at her and pretend to eat her hand she keeps putting in my mouth (and redirect her everytime she goes for my glasses)

addit ~ at night i just sit there in the dark in bed thinking/dozing. if she takes longer than 15ish minutes then ill lay down with her and sleep

I cut DDs nails, watch tv, browse my phone (BB, FB, Emails etc), play with DS, chat to DH or read.

At night I generally feed in bed these days so I snooze

I don't breastfeed anymore, but I did for a long time. I pretty much did whatever I was doing during feeds - cooking, chasing kids, reading to toddlers, shopping, sleeping, watching TV, reading emails, and talking on the phone! (To name a few) And from my breast they took in the world and participated as much or little as they wanted.

I can't do anything or DS gets distracted.. I use my other hand to do breast compressions because he never feeds for long and I want to stimulate let down ASAP lol. I love looking at him and like PZ I sometimes take pics

I fed exclusively EBM and pumped (manual pump) every 4 hours. during the day i entertained toddler and bub, played on my phone, watched TV over night i played mahjong! i see it now on the ipad and smile because of the memories

I do a bit of everything. Im sure dh laughs at me when I sit down to feed DD3. I flick the tv on, grab my phone, the remotes, turn the laptop on, etc. Then I will talk to DD1 and DD2. Although these days I have asked them to play in other rooms so that DD3 doesnt decide to watch them play. They see that as a win win to, the sooner I finish feeding DD3 the sooner I can get back to playing with them. But I love to watch her feed, and cuddle her. I try to enjoy it as much as I can, I know that one day its going to stop, well hopefully not for ages but it will one day.
