    umm... help?

I am not BF'ing at the moment but something weird is going on with my boob. (Boob, not boobs!).

I am CD16, 2 DPO, first ovulatory cycle in about 6 months. I have very high prolactin levels, but haven't BF for 17 months.

When we were BF'ing, I got a HUGE abscess in my left (.) that required a week hospitalisation on IV AB's and two drainages under anesthetic with ultrasound guidance. It was baaaad.

Up until now, I've still been able to get a few drops of fore and hind milk from my right boob, the left one was totally blocked by the abscess and nothing has ever come out of it since.

Until today. It has gone rock hard like it does when your milk comes in after birth. I still can't get anything out of it. Infection? Returning abscess?

I am on AB's at the moment for an unrelated infection (UTI), which in turn gave me thrush, doesn't appear to have spread anywhere else though.

Sorry this was so long and confusing.

We are also TTC#2, any idea if I will be able to BF from the left (.) if it was blocked? I have a lot of scar tissue from the surgery, and even after it was drained and healed I was still not able to get anything out of it.

Looks like I might be a lop sided mumma next time around .

Bugger, I thought that would be the suggestion. I am now starting to get blood tinged foremilk out of the previously blocked left boob. Very weird.

Thanks for reading I'll pop off to the gp, but he is the same gp who misdiagnosed this abscess for TEN DAYS so I have no confidence in his ability to diagnose and treat bf related issues.

GP says it's an infection . I have AB's and will come back in a week, however I know oral AB's don't work well in breast tissue because its hard to get to. How does this happen when you aren't BF? Grrr...

id go to the hospital and get it checked out by someone who might have a better idea, especialy if he failed to diagnose it the first time. good luck.

Hun i have no real advice but if you have been on ab's anyway it seems odd that you would have an infection come up that needs more ab's? I would be getting a second opinion as well xoxo

Oh darl that doesn't sound very good at all.

I am breastfeeding and i have had 160mls of straight blood come out of my left (.)(.). It was sooooo painful, i rang the Dr and they wanted to see my asap she diagnosed mastitis.

I hope everything will be ok and it's not another abcess coming on.Take care x
