Hmm...I haven't heard of that one before. Hope someone has the answer for you!
It's not coz you're hungry or thirsty?? You've probably thought of that. But I am STARVING when I'm feeding and sooooo thirsty as soon as I feed.
So I've been feeding for basically 5 and a half weeks and I still get nausea about 2 mins into a feed.
Will this continue for much longer? Cos as easy as the feeding is this time round, I don't really like the feeling that I'm gonna hurl any second....
It goes away after a few minutes but far out it's awful while I'm experiencing it.

Ok I just looked it up on the ABA site and they say:
Nausea during the let down does appear in the published breastfeeding literature though most of the information is from case histories and unpublished anecdotal information (Lactation Resource Centre 2002). From unpublished information it appears to be related to the following: medications particularly anti-depressant medication; excessive fluid intake; not enough fluid intake; low blood sugar: low blood pressure; thrush in gastrointestinal tract; low grade urinary tract infection; eating disorder; tiredness; abuse memories; hunger.
Of all these causes hunger is the one backed up by research. This research shows increased gastrointestinal activity when the let down occurs (Widstrom et al 1988, Uvnas-Moberg 1989, Uvnas-Moberg 1989). The production of gastrin (a polypeptide hormone) occurs as part of a protective effect to ensure adequate energy supply for milk production. This subsequent increase in energy uptake can then lead to nausea. If there are other factors involved this could exacerbate the effect of the extra gastrointestinal activity. Anecdotal suggestions that may help are: high carbohydrate snack before a breastfeed (Lawrence & Lawrence 1999) and sea bands used for motion sickness. Mothers reported that the problem eased over time, varying from a few weeks to some months.
oooo pick me!!
I had this as well, actually I swear whenever I letdown I could feel my uterus contracting, as well as feeling like I was going to hurl and getting a huge hot flush at the same time. It was like I imagine morning sickness to be like (but I never had that!) It lasted until my supply 'settled', so until my boobs softened and I didn't leak anymore. I can't remember exactly, sometime between 8-12 weeks I think. I know that seems forever away!!!!
Sometimes having a little something like a salada and definitely some COLD COLD water on hand helped.
I had really bad let down nausea when DS was a baby. I couldn't feel let-down physically but I knew when it was happening because I wanted to hurl. I couldn't even talk about food while I was feeding him because it made me feel sicker.
To answer your question, I can't remember lol! I think it was worse for the first few months and then tapered off. I never could eat while feeding him though. I only had it mildly with DD, a yuck feeling but not the 'pass me a sick bowl' urge.
As much as it sucks, glad someone else has the same thing - I haven't heard of anyone else feeling that way and I thought maybe I was just a freak!
Wow i'm with Heaven never heard of it before, hope it eases for you real soon.
Never heard of that either?? Drinking a small glass of water before each feed may help and you could try some nuts and dry fruit perhaps to munch on while you're feeding might help your blood sugar levels therefore help with the nausea? you could only try it.
Hope it goes away soon.
Mel I had it too really bad. i thought it was in my head.
Thanks guys at least I'm not alone lol
I don't think it's a hunger thing, I'm hungry now cos I haven't eaten yet, and no nausea? so maybe I'm the opposite and it's when I've recently eaten and eating whilst feeding?
What can I say - I guess I'm just a freak lol!!!!
I found it worse if I was full. I remember making an effort to feed him before a meal because if I had just eaten I was worried I would chuck it all back up.
