How are you going hun?

I find it unusual that the chemist would tell you it might change the taste of your bm. I would think just about anything you eat *might* change the taste of your bm, but that's the beauty of it, your baby is designed to continue to feed no matter what you've eaten. ABs are not in themselves particularly special. It's kinda hard to really figure out what changes in taste are taking place anyway, bm is very, very sweet and I've never heard of a panel of bm-taste testers who specifically check for the changes in every medication put out. I'd be inclined to discount this advice on the basis that it's probably unlikely and illogical.

Your little bub has just spent a few days without you. The change has probably also upset you and you're recovering from surgery. I'm not surprised she's unsettled or that you're now worried about the effect on your supply. One of the reasons she might be unsettled is that your let-down isn't as fast as the bottle she's had for a couple of days. She will adapt back to bfing, if you persist. Be aware that ABs increase the chance of thrush, so keep an eye on her mouth and your nipples. This can make her unsettled if she's uncomfortable. It's also possible that not directly bfing your DD for a couple of days has had a short-term effect on your milk supply. If you feed her often this will correct itself. Every time she's unsettled, hungry or whatever, put her to the breast. Take her to bed with you if you are both more comfortable there. If she is squirming and unhappy while bfing, leave it for a few mins and try again.

I hope you are back to yourself soon and so is your DD. What a stressful thing to go through with a newborn!
