Finding out who your neighbour rents through?

Hi, does anyone know how I can find out who the people next door rent through? Without coming right out and asking them? We moved in at the end of May, and the previous owners said it was a rental, but other than that and an initial quick hello to the tennants we don't know anything else.

I have emailed all the local RE agents asking to be confidentially contacted if they manage the property and only 2 got back to me to say no they didn't.

We are well and truly over the yelling, screaming, arguments, music etc at all hours of the day and night. Plus the loud cars, rubbish floating around the front yard which comes onto ours, and once they even dumped a container of oil in our front garden which I marched back over to them grrrr Every other house is so lovely, this is the only house that ever has issues and it just seems to be all the time. I'm dreading when the hotter weather hits and our windows are open more as the noise will be even worse. Then when bub comes along...... arghhhh

I'm a little worried that if they know I was trying to alert their landlord/RE, then things could get nasty..... just as if I or DH go over and ask them to tone it down I'm fairly certain I'll cop a mouthful of abuse. Any pointers?

gee - your neighbours could almost be mine!!

They got seriously huffy when we complained to the agents about their dog keeping me awake ALL night for a week (well, to be honest, the dog slept for about 2 hours from 1am to 3am... ). They said they couldn't hear the dog - probably because they were stoned as goats every other day & slept through it.

Our neighbours have taken to playing really bad music until 9:30pm exactly so we can't call the cops. I swear they watch for our car coming & only put it on when we're home. GRR!

Anyway - I don't know how to find out except the path you've been taking. Maybe call the agents that haven't replied & make it clear that there are some big issues. Or maybe it's a Homes West house?

Have you checked your local council laws on playing music and times? I was surprised when I looked ours up that music is not allowed to be played more than 10dB above background noise between 10pm and 8am on weekdays and 6pm and 8am on weekends. If their music is louder than 10dB on the border of their property or played after 6pm on weekends, we can call the police.

Every council is different, but I would check out what your laws say. I have been tempted to print out a copy of our noise pollution laws and leave it in a couple of our neighbours' letterboxes with the appropriate bits highlighted.

Thanks for the support ladies - so sorry to hear that you are both in similar situations. TG I will definitely be looking up the local council laws and see what they say - we have been so tempted to call the police several times I guess if I know the laws I won't be so hesitant if they are breaching them. The other night they were all so off their trees in the backyard at about 3 in the morning DH and I didn't call the police but we should have - woulda scared the living daylights out of them I think. Plus made them pull their heads in a bit....we have regretted not ringing ever since.

I just realised too that I should ask the elderly lady across the road if she knows who they rent through....we have affectionately nicknamed her Mrs Mangle because she always seems to know what's going on but when we asked her about the house (the day we moved in and she popped out to say hello) she just said they were a young family renting.

Entreat....I don't think we have any HomesWest houses in this area....are they sporadically placed or are there normally a group? I've only been here a couple of years and not sure how the housing works here in WA?

We have a homeswest unit block next to our house & if it weren't for the certain people living in the back unit, you might not have been aware of it. The rest of them are quite fine, normal neighbours.

And you can get Homesweat scattered throughout suburbs. One suburb in Kal is quite nice & there are HW houses in there. I don't know who you'd contact to find out if it is a HW home, though.

The house that I spoke of before isn't HW though. but I don't think I have much recourse about their behaviour with the agent. Otherwise, they're ok (except we suspect they're peddling drugs to the dodgy HW residents...)

you should be able to find out thru council I did when we had problems with 2 lots of houses in our street one was rented thru local real estate the other a commission property coucile happily gave me the details

The people across the road are like this to and I have the same concerns as you - just subscribing to this thread for ideas.

It really doesn't sound like a pleasant situation and I can sympathisize with you entirely. I ran our kids' airconditioners all through winter so that the neighbour's noise wouldn't disrupt their sleep (day or night). I felt like sending them my electricity bill at the end. It was worth it for the sanity though.

Good luck with your neighbours - I hope you can resolve it somehow.
