Light globes aren't always included. They weren't with our first house and either was door stops so check on that one definitely!
Are fences included with your builder? You may need to book in fencing in advance if it's not. I know there was a 10 weeks wait down here at one stage cos it's so busy!
What about fly screens? You may not need them now but it won't be long and the budgies will start coming in
Get brave and purge as you pack. I've always donated heaps every time we've moved And if you are getting stuck into it now you don't need to worry about the stuff you throw out clogging up your bin in the last week.
If you start the linen cupboard and kitchen stuff you never use and only leave out the daily essentials you will have less to pack in the days before the move.

Now let's see:
- the house comes with smoke detectors, but ooer on getting locked out Mak! I'll get some keys cut asap then! But I think it should be okay, since we're hoping to have people stationed at either house, me and dad (recovering from ankle op) at the new house, me unpacking and dad maybe installing blinds...not sure yet. What else can I set him to work on?
- You might be right on the piano removal Muppity...I'll look into the cost with our local dealer where we got the piano.
- Oh bins! How do I organise those?
- We've got fly screens and fences included. And I've already done the linen cupboard - it's the only cupboard in the whole house and I got sick of having no storage! I hear you on the purging, you're right, we'll have to keep being really disciplined...helps that it's easier to chuck some things than pack.
- As for the antenna, we've got one that dh chucked on the roof so I guess we can bring that with us? We don't watch too much tv anyway, so hopefully we'll be okay. We'll just record a lot of tv before we go? Haha.

I think you'd ring the coucil about bins. They'd have to organise them wouldn't they? Even though most garbage services are done outside the council I'm still pretty sure it'd go through them. Since they pay the outside companies & its to do with your rates...
Never had to do it myself though, so
For a brand new house you need to ring the council when you move in, they will be delivered by the next weeks rubbish day - so shiney and new and clean....lol

ETA: Our letterbox wasn't included either - neither were the lightbulbs...Make sure you take a roll of toilet paper too! lol
And turn the ot water system on when you get there so you have hot showers that night...I didnt and ended up spending the night with a baby with projectile vomit and no hot water lol
You will probably find too that all your Gas/electricity and water accounts have been set up in your name and turned on already, so you will just need to cancel your old ones.
Mail redirection takes 3 working days, so organise it a bit before you move (once you have aletter box! lol - we got a cheapie from Bunnings for the time being until the landscaping is done.
Check EVERYTHING - we found a massive hole in our slab near the bag door, millipedes under the lino which have marked it and they now have to replace the whole lot grr...anyway, make sure you have a look at everything, open adn close all the doors and make sure they arent sticking no gaps etc

Our granny flat neighbour likes us and lives localish to my parents, I wonder if she'd mind just putting any mail aside for a week or so...hmm. Dunno.
I think I might have to organise this like my wedding - have a folder with things to do 4 weeks before, 3 weeks before....the day before and so on...hope we haven't packed all the folders!
oh and I forgot to add that you will want to clean and disinfect the toilets before anyone uses them - all the workmen and tradies from your site will have been using them since they were flushable...not nice! lol
And remember to turn your oven on to about 200o and let it burn off the fumes for about 4 hours before you use it, turn it off and let it cool with the door ajar...another thing I shouldve done sooner!
Let your taps run for awhile and try to avoid using them for cooking and drinking in the first few days - take bottle of water.
The pipes will have all sorts of crap in them - the glue and the taste of new plastic pipes is GROSS, a waste of water yes, but save it and put it on the garden or something cos it tastes foul and prolly not very healthy
Google - emove they have great ideas and checklists and will notify a lot of places like phone gas etc for you. Go and and do a mail redirection so that Aus post will redirect all mail for you.
And if you are getting stuck into it now you don't need to worry about the stuff you throw out clogging up your bin in the last week.
