    How long did you wait...

I am just wondering how long you waited between having a csection and then getting pregnant again? My doctor had recommended very very minimum 3 months but preferably at least 6 to 9 months. Just curious how long people waited between? TIA xo

I had 3 years between mine unfortunately not by choice. I had a classical cut c section and my OB recommended waiting 6 months.

I am about to have my second cs in about 7ish weeks. The gap will be 2yrs 9mo. It was recommended to wait 12mo. I initially first got pregnant in just over a year after my cs but lost that baby and then the next one also. So it's just how life has panned out rather than what we initially planned

Will be 5.5 years but not by choice. I never was told to wait a certain time but all the information I read said about 12 months

15 months between my two but for some reason it was made out to me like 12 months was the gap you were supposed to wait until falling pregnant again, not having another baby again?

My OBGYN said there needed to be 18 months between my emergency CS and the birth of my next child if I wanted to try for a vaginal birth. My second baby is due 18 months and two weeks! He also said if I became pregnant before that it wouldn't be a disaster and that I'd just have to monitored much more carefully.

I wasn't given a time frame to wait. There will be 5 years and 10 months between them for us but that is because of other reasons

2y9months after the first and 3 years after the second. Will wait the same again after the third. I can't ever remember being given a timeframe. I asked my Ob after DD1 but she said the wound 'should' (in normal circumstances) be healed entirely after 3 months, but that for the physical, emotional and mental health of a new mum and all the learning it entails, it was best to wait a bit.

My pregnancies were via IVF and we proceeded to 'try' again when DD was 9mths old. My IVF Dr is also an OB and he had no issues with us trying to get pregnant again within 12mths of the first c/s, when DD was 10mths old we were successful with falling pregnant again - that time with twins - and I proceeded to carry the boys to 37 + 4 weeks with no issues, DD was 19mths the day after the twins were born.

I recovered pretty well from my first c/s and as you can imagine my uterus was put under immense strain carrying twins, but my recovery from my second c/s was even better than the first.

I haven't had a c/s but a friend whose first child was stillborn and born via emergency c/s then had her second child via scheduled c/s 11 months later. If you don't want to try a VBAC, then the time between births probably doesn't have to be as long as recommended. Something to check.

I know it's recommended to wait a few months after a late loss from an emotional point of view. I found the 4-5 month mark especially hard and I know others have too. Another pregnancy can add enormous stress on top of grief. However, many women have had another baby soon after a child dies and they do manage.

I was advised if I want another CS then it didn't matter when, If I want to try for VBAC to wait 12 months before TTC again.
