    Sex after c-section?

    Hey guys,

When are we good to get the green light to have sex following a c-section?
I'm 10 days past mine, and although I am still bleeding a little, I am feeling really well otherwise and am wondering when will be good to DTD. My Drs have not told me anything and I actually forgot to ask the other day.

What have others been told? I am keen to get some special time with DH as I was pretty big and bulky towards the end of my pregnancy and we didn't do it much.

    Thanks in advance.

I waited for my 6 week check both times - I was told to wait and make sure things had healed before going ahead. I would check with your OB just to be on the safe side.

If you're feeling up to it, then GO FOR IT! There's no reason that I know of to wait until your 6 week check up - maybe someone else will know something specific - but I didn't wait for 6 weeks. Just something to keep in mind too is that all the baby hormones floating around make your vagina quite dry & tender so sex can be a little painful. I can remember being surprised at this as I'd had a c/s so asked the doctor about it at my check up.

    Have fun hunny!

I wasn't told how long to wait but I waited 4 weeks and it was fine, I think my body would have coped with doing it even earlier.

We weren't warned not to before 6 weeks so if you feel up to it, I say go for it. I think we waited until 7 weeks from memory. Just be careful to not put too much pressure or strain around the wound I guess. And enjoy!

I was told to wait 6 weeks. I could drive after 3, but no sex for 6 . Seriously though, I felt like I would be fine to do it at about 3 weeks, but by 5 weeks I could tell it wouldn't be a good idea. I found when recovering that I felt really good from about 10 days to 4-5 weeks, and then the numbness started to go, and I could really feel everything healing, if that makes sense. I feel pretty good again now, at almost 8 weeks, but I'm really glad now that we didn't have sex earlier, because I don't think I would have been able to feel my limits, and may have done damage or hindered my recovery, IYKWIM. Something to keep in mind in general with your recovery

I can't remember with my DS2 (CS) but I'm sure it was before the 6 week check.

First time around i waited 3 weeks, I felt okay but afterwards had a bit of pain, it really was abit too early!!! I would say around the 6 week mark would be abetter time frame, but if you feel really good and went about it in a gentle way i guess it would be fine, what about having a great time but without the actual deed??? And remember to use protection???? You just never know, a friend of mine feel pregnant with baby no 3!!! 4 weeks after having her 2nd baby...

Thanks guys, I guess there is a variation in timeframes hey?

Will see how we go, might just take it gentle (I've really missed our DTD)..... and we have no worries about falling pregnant again - this was an IVF baby due to blocked tubes!!

    Thanks again xx

i wasn' t given an actual time frame by the Ob, so we just went with what felt ok. we "played" from a few weeks, but didn't rush into penetration until somewhere just short of six weeks (we had a check up the next day - i was making sure nothing was broken!)

as others have mentioned, it is quite dry from the hormones - particularly if you're breast feeding. it needs to be very gentle as you've had major surgery and you don't want it stirred up too much in there. it takes several weeks for the scars to have full strength. so take it easy, and if you feel ready, go for it. just talk to your DH first about it - let him know that you WANT this to happen, but physically you may have to call it quits because things just don't feel right - it's not personal, it's just part of being a new mum (esp one that has had a c/s). i did this with my DH and he was fantastic when things had to stop and start a bit
