    Surgical Stockings

how long did you have to wear yours for?

i was told 4 weeks after birth, ive got 2 weeks to go, thank goodness!

i get the worst leg aches - i get out of bed and sometimes my legs collapse from the tightness in my calf muscles..
last night resulted in the worst nights sleep ever & one of those hideous cramps in my calf muscle

    anyone else like this?

Yeah Im meant to be wearing mine aswell.... DD is a week old and I left them at the hospital. I wore them for about a week with DD1 aswell. If you are up and about and not laying around all day, it will be fine to take them off. If they are hurting you or cutting into you, they are doing you more harm than good.

and 4 weeks after birth? thats abit silly.... I was always told 2 weeks.

Thats it, they are meant to stop blood clots but thats because after surgery you spend most of the time laying in bed. Its just a "cover my a$$" protocol. Some hospitals say wear them, some say dont bother.

I was told I Had to wear mine while in hospital (to cover their ass if something went wrong) and the nurse said when I leave I could take them off. As soon as I got in the car to take ds home, they were off my legs before dh could put the car in the drive I HATED them.

I wore them for the two weeks I was on bed rest and for the few days I was in hospital after the c/s but never had to wear them at home either (but I never got the blood thinning shots either)
    Lovely fashion item they are

I took them off the day after the c/s. Nobody noticed until I was packing to leave and the nurse said "you should have kept them on" oops.....

I was only told to wear mine those first few days when I was still in hospital. It was when I was up and walking around that they said it was fine to take them off.
It is so interesting hearing how people are told such different things depending on which hospital they go to. 3 days - 4 weeks is a huge difference! Weird.
