I was told by my stepmum that I had to wait 6 weeks. That's because she had a c/s 25 years previously and that's what she was told.
So I waited, and walked everywhere. I was going nuts! and all the walking was making my stomach hurt!
I phoned my insurance company to ask about the pram & car seat - and then asked about driving. They said straight up - I can drive unless my doctor advises against it. I spoke to my obstetritian and he said it was fine to drive (it was 4 weeks at this point).
So I would make two phone calls: your insurance company and your doctor.
I think things have changed a bit from the 'dark ages' (25 years ago)
My recovery from c/s was really quick. I didn't have any stitches that needed removing. And I was out of bed within 12 hours of having the baby.
i waited the 6 weeks before i drove again - it got very boring at home, but i couldn't even walk upright for ages, still had to roll to sit up from lying down because my stomach muscles didn't want to help me without feeling like i was being pulled open, and also found bending to unload the bottom of the dishwasher too much, so figured that trying to brake in an emergency situation would just be impossible.
