Thanks ladies. We've ended up hiring a car for now so we're not racing out and buying the first thing that's available without thinking through all the practicalities. I've finally got a muppet bus, even if only a "borrowed" one, so it will be interesting if I love the reality of it as much as I love the idea of it.

Yannow that's not a bad idea if you can find a similar car to what you want to buy! Try and hire before you buy!Happy driving babe!

Does anyone have a VW Golf, and fit 3 seats in the back? What seats do you have?

one more question, dh said that the carseats shouldn't touch each other. due to the shock in an accident getting passing through all three seats rather than each one dealing with only shock it is directly exposed to. have you heard this? is it possible to have 3 seats in a row without them touching?

I was asking about car seats the other day and Eenee pointed me to the NRMA website that says about car seats for which car. I'm a dufus when it comes to links so have a look in my thread titled something like "CX5 - does anyone have one" or something like that. The website describes what seats fit in what car and also mentions things like seats touching but I don't recall it saying it in a bad way - just that it makes the seatbelts for boosters a pain.
