    Do car dealerships...

    buy cars without trade in??

    I have no idea!

We live in a tiny area so private sale is difficult.

some do but do not expect a high price.. infact it is often lower then what it would be if it was a trade in.

    thanks ladies!!!

OG I don't think it will differ as they offered us the lowest price redbook recommends for trade ins when we went in last time. I don't think they would offer any less... but i could be wrong and they just may not take it!!

someone i know thinks would be better to persist to sell it privately as they goe for 2-3times as much as tradein... but i just want to be rid of it!!

If someone wants that particular car, they'll buy it. Depending on what sort of car you've got (condition etc) you could try ebay. We sold Heath's 4WD on Ebay last year, we're in Cairns and a guy from Brissy bought it. After getting everything checked out we just put it on the truck for him (at his cost).

Like some of the other have said, some yards do, but they'll shaft you on price big time. ie. if the car is work 5K they'll probably give you 2K.

Some advertising avenues that you may not have yet used, although I'm sure you've used some would be the local rag, Trading Post online, Carpoint, or any small operator web sales companies in your area - I used one of these in my area and actually got a sale!
