Okay, so my current car is a piece of cr@p and we're looking at getting a new one. We can probably only afford max of $21,000. i really like the look of 2010 or 2011 mitsubishi lancer's, probably a sedan.
so my question is, would 3 kids fit in the back? DS as of next year could be in a bum seat, and DD is in a safe n sound hi-liner (which are fairly narrow....) don't know when we will try for another baby, but don't really want to buy a car that won't fit another baby....thanks![]()

Our tarago fits 3 baby seats.
I have a Toyota camry, bought second hand with 21,000km for within your budget, I can fit 3 car seats across the back.
If you need another carseat, try and find the Mother's Choice Nomad. They're specially made to fit in cars with multiple carseats in it. They're quite narrow. From birth to 18kg.
We have a Toyota Landcruiser Wagon 80 series, I love it to pieces! It has HEAPS of room with an extra 2 seats in the back if you need them. You can usually pick one up for about that price. Good luck car hunting i hope you find something!![]()
Word of warning - a Lancer probably won't fit 3 seats in the back. Our test was to try and seat 2 adults and our 9 year old in the backseat and see if they fit - it's a very tight squeeze in the back of a Lancer, and there really isn't a lot of space between the back seats and the front, so it's likely to struggle with a rear facing seat unless you've got the front seats all the way forward.
They also have turning circle of brick and the VRX model speaking from experience chews fuel like you wouldn't believe. We recently traded our 07 VRX (so not the current shape but one before it) and are picking up our new Outlander today.
We had a Mitsubishi Magna (sold it to move OS) and it fitted 3 car seats. I loved that car.
My SIL has a magna with three seats too, but the lancers are more sporty. Your best bet would be to test drive it and see what fits.
Magnas are very good cars and you can sometimes pick them up ex-fleet for a very reasonable price. Just watch they aren't ex-rentals as they do tend to get a little thrashed if they are. Other option if you're confident with cars or have someone who can advise you that is is to sort your finance then check out the used car auctions.
Same can be said for a lot of larger passenger cars like Commodores, Camrys and Falcons come to think of it.
We have a camry - and theres no way we will be able to fit 3 seats in!
We are looking at either a Mazda Tribute, a Subaru Forester or a Commodore wagon
I have a lancer and can't fit 3 seats in the back. I have one compact seat and one Maxi rider (which is big) but I don't think you would even get 3 compact seats across the back.
Our camry is a '98 I think, and we currently have a maxirider, a convertable mother's choice - and there is definitely no room for any kind of carseat!
The newer models are probably wider?
Sorry, I don't know anything about the Lancer, I can comment on three car seats
We have a 2000 Ford Mondeo Ghia, it currently has 3 car seats in the back seat. One a Hi Pod, one a half booster and the other a Safe and Sound Meridian.
