Infa-Secure Kompressor vs Safe-n-Sound Meridian

We're looking at replacing the capsule in our Kia Cerato. It has Isofex but I can't find any evidence that there are any Isofex car seats in Australia.

We have a Meridian Tilt & Adjust in our other car. It's rear facing and there is no room in the front passenger seat as the car seat is so deep. It's a good car seat and has a good CPEP safety rating. The InfaSecure Kompressor is not as deep, so there will be more room in the front seat. It doesn't have a CPEP rating. The main benefit is bub can rear face longer than 6 months. He's real chunky monkey - 7.5kg at 11.5weeks and getting into Crawler size nappies. I don't want to turn him around when he'll be at the normal shoulder height as he won't have the head control. Also, I'd prefer to rear face as long as possible.

Anyone have the Kompressor? The reviews of other compact car seats are that babies often don't stay in them long.

I have the Kompressor Caprice for DD3. She's 8 months and only weighs around 8-8.5kg and short! It's a seat we will get a long time RF mode. I have a Neon too which I love and will RF for ages as well

We have just bought the Kompressor Caprice for this baby so obviously haven't used it yet but I got it because I was told the Kompressor's can rear face the longest

We have the Kompressor. I turned DD2 at 20months recently. Her legs were just too long for her to be comfy (I have 3across the back seat so her legs dangling over the sides wasn't an option with her in the middle). She is seriously off-the-charts tall too. She could still be rear facing if she was the only kid in the back seat.
On the downside they really sit upright when rear facing. And the tether makes it a pita to get them in and out.
I really love the seat though as our original baby seat, my DD1 was too tall for at 2! So I should get lots of use out of this one.

With the Meridian, we just loosen the tether on the side before lifting him out. Is that not the same with the Kompressor?

Yes it is, just with a big 4wd and bub in the middle and me a shortie....

I bought a kompressor for #3, but for now #1 is in it. she is tall, 3.5 years and still fits fine. my 23 month old is still below rear facing line, which I thought was quite impressive.

I have other safe n sound seats, and their covers seem a little less synthetic than the infa seats. however, I have washed the infa covers a few times and they wash fine.

I think tether is same with most seats.

We had DS2 in a Safe n Sound Compaq - only just turned him at 14 months. Just as an alternative in the compact car seat space

Bub has a big bum actually, he's built like a tank, so I'm also concerned about width of seat, not just leg room.

WE used a safe and sound meridian for both kids and they were rear facing until 17 months. DS1 was turned as needed seat for DS2 and DS2 was turned as he was 12kg which is max weight rear facing.

We have DS in the infasecure acsent (toysrus) and infasecure neon (bigw) which are the cheaper versions of the kompressor as our spare seats and he is 2 in a few weeks and still rear facing and still with the insert in it. I think he could read face for atleast another 6-8 months. I may have to turn him soon tho as I'm due with Bub #2 soon and will be havig a c/s and don't know how to get him in and out of the car rear facing!

It's a good car seat and def has less rear facing distance(?) and I could move our front seats back a few cm's.

I have the sns meridian as our main newborn seat because that was the "best" when I bought it. Now after having used the infasecure I'm not sure it was worth the extra money, but it is a nice feel.?

I have a neon which my neice is rf in at 2 and 2 tilt and adjusts for my twins that my older boy was rf in til almost 3. Both great seats. The neon/kompressor is more upright/compact with rf. I prefer the tilt and adjust method of adjusting the belt and the fabric and seat belts 'feel' better/thicker/nicer on the tilt and adjust but otherwise I love both

L&B there is an extra padded bit in the seat that is removable. I had to do that for DD2 and she was much more comfy and not as restricted.
